Peat Fusion.

Laphroaig distillery was founded in 1815 by Donald and Alexander Johnston and is located in Port Ellen, Isle of Islay. Although Laphroaig isn't allowed to put the prefix ‘Royal’ in its name (yet), rumour has it his royal princeness Charles of Wales is a fan of the ‘L’ Whisky. The 15-year-old is reportedly the prince's favourite Scotch. For a long while there’s been frenzy for Laphroaig’s Scotch, especially those less-available expressions.

Laphroaig QA Cask is first maturated in ex-Bourbon barrels, as is the norm, and then finished in new, charred American white oak casks. This second, and intense, maturation creates a fusion of peat smoke and warm, spicy vanilla notes. This combination will hit home, every-single-time.

What does Laphroaig QA Cask taste like?

The Flavour Spiral™ shows the most common flavours that you'll taste in Laphroaig QA Cask and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavour Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Scotch Whisky is almost never aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation, while many times ageing process and flavour finishing is concluded in various wine casks, such as sherry or port.

Excellent and strong taste
It smells awesome, rich leather and oak. It will put hair on your feet, it tastes of leather and oak and has a slight hint of what reminds me of cloroseptic
I can see where it would appeal to some folk. It takes a little getting used to at first, but if you can get through the first couple of sips, this is a pleasure. Not something I would buy a bottle of, but wouldn't turn down if someone offered.
The Laphroaig! Never gets old. The medicine for any occasion.
