The textbook definition of fine Scotch.

Laphroaig distillery was founded in 1815 by Donald and Alexander Johnston and is located in Port Ellen, Isle of Islay. Although Laphroaig isn't allowed to put the prefix ‘Royal’ in its name (yet), rumor has it that his royal highness Prince Charles of Wales is a fan of the ‘L’ Whisky. The 15-year-old is reportedly the prince's favorite Scotch. For a long while, there’s been a frenzy for Laphroaig’s Scotch, especially those less-available expressions.

This offering definitely falls into the “less-available” category. A Laphroaig of this age is hard to come by. Laphroaig 28 Year Old Limited Edition was born from 27YO casks that spent an additional year in Sherry. It’s exactly what you’d imagine high-quality (and expensive) Scotch to taste like. This particular one is sweet, fruity, and warm with plenty of layers for you to discover when sipping neat or to incorporate in your premium cocktail.

Whisky distilling goes way back to 1494 when the first recorded batch was made by a posse of monks who acquired about 60 gallons of barley and decided to turn it into "aqua vitae". They created the first 1,500 bottles of Scotch in History.
90% of all Scotch Whisky released in the market is a blend. That’s a hell of a lot.
Is Scotch always Scottish? What do you think? Yes. The answer is yes.
Beer and malt Whisky seem to have quite a bit in common. Both drinks begin with malted barley, which deliver the enzymes and sugars needed for fermentation when steeped in hot water. The two go their separate ways at the wash stage, where they're fermented or aged to become the adult beverages you know and love.
Laphroaig was the only 'legal' Whisky to be sold in the US during Prohibition. Officials were persuaded that Laphroaig Whisky could be used for medical purposes, since it had a strong iodine character.
Categories of Scotch Whisky: Single malt, Blended malt (formerly called Vatted malt), blended, single grain and blended grain Scotch.
