Close your eyes and imagine you are drinking "Mexican Whisky."
In Spanish, "la certeza" means "the certainty." OK… that’s a pretty good name for a Tequila company in our humble opinion. But even though the La Certeza Tequilas are certainly top-shelf, distilling the ownership is a bit more challenging. Since 2008, Certeza has been a joint venture of the originators — Tierra da Agaves, founded by Cuervo alumni Fransisco Beckman — and Heaven Hill Distillers in Bardstown. Heaven Hill brings their reseller portfolio and distribution might, Tierra de Agave brings their mighty-fine small-batch Tequilas. In our opinion, it’s a marriage made in Heaven… Hill.
As we mentioned, the entire La Certeza line of Tequilas belongs on the top shelf. Their Reposado is everything you expect from a distiller playing at this level — small-batch, double distillation, aged for a minimum of six months in new oak, and 100% pure agave grown on the family estate north-west of Guadalajara, Mexico. The combination brings a youthful, Whisky-like taste and texture to the Spirit, and the experience of the Beckmann family brings consistency and quality.
