The way Rye is supposed to taste.

Dissatisfied with the fate of post-prohibition Whiskey and Bourbon in the USA, the Knob Creek distillery was founded with the purpose of restoring the former glory of what the US Congress deemed “America’s native spirit”. And the founder of Knob Creek was no other than Jim Beam’s grandson, the legendary Booker Noe. He joined the family business in the 1950s and went on to establish Knob Creek (named after a stream that flows past Abraham Lincoln’s childhood home in Kentucky), the award-winning distillery known for its strong, flavorful small batch Bourbon.

The company’s rigorous standards that gave reputation to their Bourbon now shine through once again, in their Straight Rye. Bottled at 100 proof, this pre-prohibition style blend of grains tastes like Rye was supposed to taste. It’s aged in the deepest charred barrels, with fruity sweetness contrasted by a slight bitterness. It’s a perfect fit for Manhattans or and Old Fashioned, but also exquisite on its own, with its old school apothecary-like bottle being a perfect fit for your home bar too.

Smartass corner:
Straight Bourbon or Rye means that the Whiskey has been aged for at least 2 years and has no added artificial flavorings or colorings.

Jim Beam has recently allowed its signature Whiskey to be used in several food products, including Bar-B-Q sauces, steak sauces, and an increasing number of specialty foods.
A decade ago there were only 6 brands of Rye Whiskey hailing from Kentucky, nowadays there are more than 50!
Rye sparked the first revolution after the American Independence. It was called the Whiskey Rebellion, and it arose when the government tried to tax Whiskey and enforce the taxation on distillers. The lesson here? Don't mess with a Whiskey drinker's dram.
Perhaps because of the family ties, when there was a serious fire at the Heaven Hill Distillery that seriously damaged production capacity, Jim Beam was one of two distilleries that graciously let their “friendly competitor” use some of their excess capacity, until repairs were completed.
Interestingly, every master distiller at Heaven Hill Distillery since its founding, have also been members of the Beam Family.
Rye - think of it as Bourbon's edgier cousin. It’s known for what many call a spicy or fruity flavor. Rye (distilled from at least 51% Rye) is not on the sweet side and tends to have a spicier body. That’s why the character of a cocktail made from Rye, instead of Bourbon, is drier.
