Everything we love about Knob Creek with six more years in the barrel.

Knob Creek is one of the special "small batch" brands of Beam-Suntory. Along with it’s sister labels — Booker’s, Baker’s, and Basil Hayden’s — it’s tailored to the more discriminating Bourbon-lover (and that means YOU). The Knob Creek brand was first launched in 1992, and since then they have changed it very little — remaining dedicated to reproducing a pre-Prohibition style Bourbon experience with a higher ABV that makes it a Bourbon-of-Choice for discriminating cocktail aficionados everywhere while winning awards and turning heads.

The core Knob Creek has always been a very pleasant nine year-old. A few years ago they released a twelve year-old. And since so many of us clamored for more, they added the twelve to the core line-up and just launched a fifteen year-old as a limited edition. So, let’s think good thoughts about older Knob Creeks entering long-term availability.

Knob Creek 15 Year Old Limited Release is the same Knob Creek Bourbon. It has just rested in the barrel for six more years. It’s even brought to the same proof of 50% ABV, which makes comparisons straight forward. It is a textbook schooling on the direct influence of age when all else is held the same. The bright citrus and apple notes of the younger Knob Creek are mellowed into dark berries, stewed pears, warm leather, and humidor notes of the older dram — sophisticated and refined by time.

Smartass Corner:
The "Small Batch" line from Beem used to include four Bourbons — Booker’s, Baker’s, Basil Hayden’s, and Knob Creek. Recently, Beam moved the Baker’s label to their Single Barrel line up, leaving three official members of the Small Batch range.

Tasting Notes

Appearance / Color

Nose / Aroma / Smell
The aroma is deep with dark fruits like plum and blackberry with a touch of marmalade over toffee notes.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
The flavor profile reinforces the dark fruits and expands into brittle toffee, roasted peanuts, tobacco humidor, worn leather, oak tannin, and vanilla.

The finish is long and smooth with a sweet aftertaste.
Ratings & Reviews
This one spent a bit too much time in the barrel, as the oak tends to overwhelm a lot of the goodness here. I had to knock this down a bit due to the price point, because at $95 there are others I prefer
This was a solid pour. Way over priced at $115. But the knob creek flavor profile was spot on, great balance of heat, vanilla and oak. Would recommend finding a pour at a bar, tough to recommend a bottle at the price I bought it at.
I don’t think Knob Creek gets the credit it deserves. I was incredibly surprised by this one. I honestly had low expectations and bought this on a whim out of being frustrated from just missing out on some Unicorns. This is incredibly smooth, rich nose and finish. What stands out to me is the oily nut flavor I get on the taste. Nutter butter with the sweet brown sugar and cinnamon spices. Oak and leather hint. So good. I’m glad I got this as I have nothing else on the shelf that tastes like it.
Silky, oaky, caramel goodness.
Outstanding Knob Creek! Definitely can taste the age. Starts with the traditional vanilla and caramel, baking spices, but then you get the age of this bourbon. Lot's of leather and oak char. Great semi spicy finish.
My favorite I’ve had so far in my short time trying new things.
Tasty, but $40 overpriced here on Flaviar. Should be able to buy for $100. Seen it twice in CO in last week for that price.
lolol standard Flaviar behavior... this whiskey is over priced by $50 everywhere, but here its over priced by $90.
If you ever have an opportunity to purchase this, then don't pass it up. You won't regret the smooth taste of this excellent bourbon.
Love it. I have a store pick and it is really good.
