Member Reviews and Ratings of Kings County Peated Bourbon
Rod,
As a Single Malt Scotch drinker who drinks Whiskey from the Islay Region, I have to say this does have some redeeming features, smooth, not as sweet as most Bourbons, hint of peat, in the right mood circumstances I could drink this.
Gui,
There is a definite depth to the flavor. It’s spicy and smoky but had a bit too much of an after sting for my taste.
melisa,
Smoky appealing smell, smooth going down, with lots of spice and flavor on the tongue for the aftertaste. This one has a strong, bold taste and not for someone wanting all smooth and no pizazz.
Chance,
Very smoky and savory.
Rob,
Smoke and leather to the nose... Caramel on first touch to the tongue followed by strong leathery taste... great mouth feels... just a bit of spice that hits the back of the throat then moves forward to the top of the tongue... peaty leathery finish... weird after taste at times kind of buttery leather taste... overall I’m a fan!
Joshua,
Smokey and earthy flavor. Just not my cup of whiskey.
Michael,
Light aroma, intense flavor on first sip. Eases up and lingers well. Woody and smoky flavor.
Alison,
Very smooooth. Light smoke and enjoyable.
Ethan,
Easy to drink Neat. Smooth, sweet, and smokey.
Bryan,
Blind tested and got the peatiness right away. Liked the flavor and hints of botanical. Would recommend but pricy.
Rachel,
smokey, peaty, good body
Eric,
Definitely a unique flavor. The peat and bourbon mix works surprisingly well together.
Jason,
Too much peat.
Eddie,
Smokey, sharp and peaty. Nice strong flavor.
Dermot,
Very good. I like the peat taste. This is a nice bourbon.
Jeremy,
Very peaty and easy to drink. Not usually a fan of tons of smoke but this one is unique and excellent.
Alex,
It’s a surprise to be sure. This is definitely a particular profile. If you’re into the peated scotches, this one’s for you. It’s smooth all around & slightly bitter. The peat & smoke compliments the hard edge of your traditional bourbon in an unconventional whisky.
Paul,
Complex and unique. Bitterness and spices are definitely present. Enjoyable if you appreciate something unique. Would be a good one for a tasting that you wanted to throw in something different.
Adam,
Very peaty and very smoky. Just not my bag.
Marco,
Great fusion. Definitely peaty but finishes like a bourbon.
Lindsey,
Leather and herbs on the nose. Very peaty flavor at first, but lingers nicely as smoky. Liked more than I expected.
Austin,
I'm not a fan of scotch or peat but this is a wonderful fusion of everything good about scotch in a very smooth whiskey. Aroma is strong enough to remind you it's peat, but smooth enough to reassure you of how drinkable it is.
Vicente,
Flavor was smooth and smokey. I enjoyed this very much.
Jarod,
One of the most aromatic boubons I've tried. The favour is a little rough but spicey with a hint of sweetness. I can't really explain why I like it as much as I do. Sum of its parts, I guess.
Robert,
I'm an inexperienced taster, so I lack the jargon to explain how delightful this is. The flavors play long and slow over the palate, linger in a pleasant way. A nice full spectrum of flavors from light to earthy. Very nice.
Robert,
Disappointed with this one. Love peaty scotch and love bourbon, was hoping this would be a good marriage between the two. For something described as peaty, I got little in the way of peat taste or smell. My wife described it as the taste you get when licking an envelope. Wanted to love it, but likely not something I would buy again.
Steven,
Although my wife doesn’t appreciate the peat, I really enjoyed it. Peat and leather on the nose, with a delicate saltiness on the finish. I’ll likely buy another bottle for my (private) stash.
Antti,
It is a very good, intense, Bourbon Whiskey that has an aromatic birth; while a bitter sweet life leads to a thick & oily death with hints of salt & spice.
Matt,
Smooth smoky flavor with an easy finish. Definitely a different taste from traditional bourbons but it’s worth having for special times with friends.
Julia,
Simple but nice
Patrick,
I don't understand the hype with this bourbon. It was a bit harsh and the peat just didn't make a difference to me.
Richard,
Very sweet, mildly peaty, and reliably pleasant to sip.
Robin,
I only get a hint of the peaty flavor midway through. Sharp start and burns all the way through. It’s aggressive. Not bad but not amazing
Michael,
Others might like it, but I just didn’t care for it. Especially at the price. Just not top shelf.
Jeremy,
Great flavor, sweet and smokey the way I like it.
Luis,
It’s Old Brooklyn in a bottle - honest, rough, and not for the weak of heart. The subtle notes of caramel are secondary to the pure fire of the grain. I’d get it again... but it’s not going to be everyone’s cuppa.
Michael,
Went to the distillery today...chose this one to buy and I do not regret it...so delicious and unique
Christi,
Very smooth finish! Straight or with a rock…easy drinker!
Eric,
I love the flavor! It’s very easy to drink. I definitely tasted a leathery caramel flavor. So far it’s my favorite whiskey.
Janine,
Wonderful bourbon. I love my Islay scotch, so this is right up my alley. Small bottle & expensive, but also one of a kind.
Tim,
Very smooth great taste. Definitely heavy on the Carmel. Taste great over ice
Warren,
After my first taste, I knew this was not for me. It's very brash with a bitter finish. The bottle is totes adorbs, that's about the only positive I can say. I will save the 99% that's left in the bottle so that when my enemies come over, I have something to serve them.
Michael,
Thought it tasted fine ,,,,didn't see the fine print ...only came as a 375... and took over 5 weeks to recieve ....feeling like ive been scnooker
Jonathon,
Very rough with strong after taste.
John,
I bought this, tasted it and poured it out. Not my style. Great bottle for my other stuff.
Meghan,
Over all very smooth but very similar to scotch which being a tried and true bourbon fan not really my drink of choice this one is a pass for me
Jeff,
Smooth, spicey, a bit sweet and caramel.
Dana,
Smooth start with an oak finish. Good sippin’ whiskey!
Amy,
100% smokey, hints of sweet, bold on the front end, not much on finish
Derreck,
Deep and smoky with minimal bite
Simone,
Very smoky. Loved it.
Michael,
The caramel and the smoke mix together well. This is definitely worth a bottle.
RAHSHEEN,
Just really good bourbon whiskey with a hint of peat. Great color and a sweet taste that getting you coming back for more. Don’t let it sit too long at room temp it will cloud up on you.
Shoji,
It’s okay. Had on tour
Robert,
Nice, smooth, tasteful really taste the Carmel
Michelle,
Very nice. Loved the taste of this bourbon.
Brian,
Peat in the nose is very strong. Fantastic attribute for its name. Taste, like many have stated, is a well stated bourbon with a fantastic touch of peat.
Paul,
I absolute love this bourbon. Being a huge fan of heavily peated scotch whisky, I found this to be right up my alley. This is certainly not heavily peated by any means, but a great example of how a little peat can go a very long way to adding character to what I'm guessing is an already exceptional bourbon. I'll be trying to get my hands on a full bottle and some other expressions from Kings County. Bravo!
