Has a nose of oatmeal with chopped apples and a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon. Much less apple on the taste. Honey, bready, citrus flavors present in that order. Very good but if you're looking for something to challenge redbreast this isn't there. Not as complex as some other single pot still competitors within the same price range, but worth trying
I first hear about this as a "breakfast whiskey" and I couldn't imagine what that was until I had it. Now I get it - very smooth with a hint of oat, highly recommend!
This is actually the 18 year limited edition but wasn't given that choice on the list. Smells sweet and oaky smooth sweet on the pallet to start then a touch of spice and into a woody tobacco and then warm and smooth finish leaving you with an urge to finish off the glass little sweeter and definitely more complex than the jameson 18 year. Maybe even smoother. Loved it and for the money I'd choose it over my old favorite jameson
Kilbeggan is a gem of a whiskey. It's smooth, has spice with pleasant undertones of vanilla, and a nuttiness that combines to make a great sipping whiskey. To me, it ranks with Knappogue Castle 16 year-old, and is much better than more popular and more expensive whiskeys. I keep trying other Irish whiskeys, but for a good book and a straight whiskey, I keep coming back to Kilbeggan.
Kilbeggan was my first single grain Irish Whiskey and I found it smooth on the tongue with a strong flavor. To the main point I like it very much. As to the hidden flavors I don't have the capacity to identify them.
So far Kilbeggan is the best whiskey I have had from the selection from your lists.
I really love Kilbeggan. My go-to Irish whiskey is Jameson, but Kilbeggan offers a deeper and more complex flavor profile. The flavor of peat is stronger than in more entry-level Irish whiskies and sits a bit oaky on the palate. This is a fantastic sipping whiskey that is a pleasure to explore and enjoy!
Very smooth Whiskey and definitely my favorite Irish whiskey so far. Starts quite spicy and ends with a sweet taste with hints of vanilla and cinnamon coming through. Really like it!
Nose: Spicy with cinnamon and somewhat fruity.
Taste: Light and refreshing with vanilla and some nuts kicking in after a few sips.
Finish: Very little burn as you swallow. Nuts and vanilla lingering.
Will definitely buy again. Very smooth.
