As the first licensed distillery of Ireland founded way back in 1757, Kilbeggan plays a key role in the history and success of Irish Whiskey. The workers and community could have accepted this title and put their feet up after the distillery fell on tough times and closed in 1953 but that would have just been very un-Kilbeggan. They soldiered on, mastering the production of a family of Spirits that have ensured the history of a classic Irish Spirit will not be forgotten. After such dogged determination in the face of adversity, it’s safe to say the Whiskey Gods are now looking down favorably on the products coming out of Kilbeggan. Long may it continue.
