It's funny, you think you're drinking a quality premium vodka until you test it against some others. Used to be my go to. No longer. Average at best. Oily with a hint of sweetness. Too much ethanol and metallic. Not quite good enough compared to others at that price point
Ketel one is one of my favorite vodkas. I challenge you to do a taste test with stoli and goose blindfolded.. if you don't choose the smoothness of Ketel then check your tatsebuds. For that level of vodka.. it is king
Nose has alcohol with a distinct hint of vanilla behind it.
Flavors are lightly sweet at first, with citrus and peppery notes coming in after. The finish is dry and clean with a hit of lemon peel. Smooth, oily mouth-feel, though not as thick as a potato-based vodka.
Ketel One is honestly a little pricey for my typical vodka choice, as I don't typically drink vodka straight (I happened to catch a sale this time.) However, of all the premium vodkas I've tried it probably comes closest to justifying the extra expense- it's clean without being 'flavorless'. It's my go-to vodka when I'm ordering a vodka martini while out, as that's one cocktail where I think a quality vodka really matters.
