Founded in 1879 on the banks of the Kentucky River, Kentucky Owl Bourbon had produced “The Wise Man’s Bourbon” for decades before Prohibition put a stop to the production. Luckily, the brand was relaunched in 2014 with Batch #1 of “The Wise Man’s Bourbon”.

Only the finest Bourbons make it to each batch that’s bottled at the perfect 127.6 proof. These magnificent Bourbon batches sell out immediately and almost solely by word of mouth. You have before you Batch 11, blended with very particular well-aged, bold Bourbons. 10-14YO Bourbons come together with mature Bourbons 6-9YO to create this unique blend where the spiciness of Bourbon is followed by soft notes of vanilla tea and soft Wine.

Bourbons have very prominent notes of vanilla, as American White Oak is naturally high in vanillins.
Bourbon was declared "The Official Spirit of America" by an Act of Congress signed by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964.

Pinhook’s high-proof Bourbon won Gold at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, while the Straight Rye Whiskey won Double Gold the following year. In 2021, their Bourbon War Vertical Series 5 Year and the 2021 Flagship Bourbon won a Gold Medal each, with a Double Gold going to their Tiz Rye Time Vertical Series 5 Year. Pinhook is evidently doing something right!

Whisky or Whiskey? The spelling differs geographically. In Scotland, Japan, and some other parts of the world, distilleries usually spell it Whisky; in Ireland and the USA, they spell it Whiskey.
Bourbon only needs to be placed in a new oak container for a few seconds to be called Bourbon. Fresh from the still and unaged Bourbon is called a White Dog. Recently, many of the larger distillers have started packaging this harsh, clear grain spirit for sale.
Bourbon rules refer to manufacturing methods rather than location. Bourbon must be matured in new and charred American white oak casks for at least 2 years. If the bottle has no age statement, the Bourbon is at least 4 years old. No coloring or flavoring of any type is allowed, and the mash bill must contain at least 51% corn.
