Kentucky Owl Batch No.1 s a powerful & savory Rye with a history worth telling.

The original Kentucky Owl Whiskey was made by Charles Mortimer Dedman in the late 1800s. After every drop of this "Wise Man’s Whiskey" in inventory was, ahem… "confiscated" by federal agents under mysterious circumstances at the start of Prohibition, the C.M. Dedman Distillery faded into history. But just a few years ago his great-great-grandson — Dixon Dedman — revived the brand, creating the Kentucky Owl Bourbons and Ryes as small batch, super-premium Spirit blends.

Batch No. 1 of Kentucky Owl Straight Rye was released in September of 2017, which was just awarded 95 points by Whisky Advocate as the Highest-Rated Whisky of 2018. That’s right… the very first batch takes top prize. And little wonder. What we have here Ladies & Gents is Kentucky Owl Rye Batch No. 2 that is still hot from the barrel!

This amazing newcomer to the premium Rye world has extremely limited distribution. As word gets out, bottles are going to be even harder to get.

Rye sparked the first revolution after the American Independence. It was called the Whiskey Rebellion, and it arose when the government tried to tax Whiskey and enforce the taxation on distillers. The lesson here? Don't mess with a Whiskey drinker's dram.
Rye - think of it as Bourbon's edgier cousin. It’s known for what many call a spicy or fruity flavor. Rye (distilled from at least 51% Rye) is not on the sweet side and tends to have a spicier body. That’s why the character of a cocktail made from Rye, instead of Bourbon, is drier.
George Washington famously loved his Rye Whiskey. In fact, after he served as the first president of the United States, he returned to his farm at Mount Vernon and started a small Rye distillery of his own.
A decade ago there were only 6 brands of Rye Whiskey hailing from Kentucky, nowadays there are more than 50!
