Exquisite and exclusive Spirit of Taiwan.

Kavalan is one of the two biggest Spirit names in Taiwan (next to Omar), and it's Taiwan's first Whisky-maker and its only family-owned distillery. Kavalan is the old name of Yilan county where the maker is located. Established in 2005 and employing highly-skilled folks, they found the best place to make Whisky: the subtropical island with the purest water and freshest air. Add the world-class Master Blender Ian Chang, and you got yourself a jackpot.

Now this specimen is quite special as only 484 bottles were made. It's bottled at cask strength (58.6% ABV) and it was matured in barrels that used to hold Sherry. Born embraced by nature, the Whisky is complex and multi-layered with exquisite aromas and flavors that would make many Scottish cousins blush.

In the U.S., Irish Whiskey sales have jumped by over 500% since 2002. It’s the fastest growing category in the Spirits industry. There’s some news to raise your glass to.
The distillery has since been named by Whisky Magazine as the World Icons of Whisky "Whisky Visitor Attraction of the Year" for 2011, and its products have won several other awards.
Is it spelled Whisky or Whiskey? Maybe you've noticed it before, but let’s just take a wee moment to help you keep your Es in order with this simple rule: There is an E in the word Ireland, so there is also an E in their Whiskey. The rule also holds true for United States, so while there is no E in Scotland, Japan and Canada the same goes for their Whisky. All clear? Good.
The distillery used hybrid stills until 2006, which were discontinuous stills, with pot stills on the bottom and a short column on top.
The distillery receives 1 million visitors per year, 30% of which are foreign tourists.
The two biggest Whisky producers in Japan and major rivals are Nikka and Suntory.
