— KAMIKI Malt whiskey is aged in Cedar casks and has a very deep and intense wood flavor. This is a unique flavor and excellent spirit to enjoy. (KAMIKI didn't show up in your selection list so I choose something close, Kaiyo).

— Quite easy to drink with nice flavors and great balance. Starts out with a nice woody note combined with vanilla and a hint of butterscotch on the nose. Great mouth feel with layers or wood, banana, cream, and a bit of spice for balance. A warm and long finish with orange peel, some mild spice, and rounded out with a dollop of cream. Comfortable and very enjoyable, like meeting up with a close friend.

Zesty, oaky, woody, spicy and teaming with balances of vanilla, light fruits and dark chocolate malt. Mix in a smattering of pepper and sweet cream butter and you have Kaiyō Cask Strength bottled up. I am a big fan of this spirit.

Japanese Mizunara oak, cask strength, unchill filtered... All the fancy things into one package, but doesn't smell and taste that good. Not bad, but not that impressive.

Plums... a big hit of plums after a subtle nose of fruits and oak sets you up for fruity taste that lingers slightly before a slight saltiness makes you realize that this is a great tasting experience. For me, the vanilla and toffee come on the finish and tease your tongue with burnt toffee faintly fading away setting you up for the next hit of plums on the next sip. A touch of water adds a smoothness unexpected in a cask strength which confirms the Two drams in one bottle theory

It is an outstanding, intense, Cask Strength Japanese Malt Whisky that has an aromatic birth; while a bold & salty life leads to a long & warming death with notes of orange peel & toffee.

You sure you're not reviewing the non-cask strength Kaiyo (with the black label), which is 43%? The cask strength is 53% and is much better than its little brother, in my opinion.

Very fantastic Japanese whiskey for the price. The taste of the mizunara oak cask is very unique and has a unbelievable flavor. Spicy, oaky, and orange zest at first. Finish is a deep syrup and burnt caramel. Grab a bottle if you see it!

The company producing this whisky is from Hong Kong, where the whisky is sourced is questionable, is not a product of Japan just because you bottle it using a Japanese Word and Japanese Oak. Taste is terrible, it tastes cheap, young and industrial. Don’t fall for this product trying to ride the coattails of Japanese Whisky and buy an Actual Japanese Whisky: Taketsuru N/A is $55!
