KAH Tequila is owned by Worldwide Beverage Imports, who also market for Ed Hardy Tequila and Agave 99. Kah means “life” in Mayan and this is a nod towards the brand’s main feature as a homage towards its Meso-American roots. The four expressions produced by KAH are packaged in the shape of Mexican sugar skulls. These multi-coloured decorations are created for Dia De los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and each KAH bottle is handcrafted. KAH tequila is distilled in Fabrica de Tequilas Finos Distillery, where many others.
KAH Reposado Tequila comes in a ceramic skull painted in the theme of “El Diablo”. This is a nod towards Peruvian Day of the Dead celebrations, when El Diablo himself is prayed to for the safety of miners. There is definitely something quite empowering about pouring your Tequila from a skull. But the packaging is not the only impressive feature; the Tequila’s pretty good too!
This KAH expression has been aged for 10 months in French limousin barrels. The proof is quite high, at 110, and while it can be overwhelming in the nose, does not impair the overall flavour. The traditional agave flavour is confident throughout and combines with the caramel sweetness of the limousine casks. The bottle not only captures the fiery nature of El Diablo but also the hotness of the Tequila. It goes down like a house on fire, nice and hot!
