A truly beautiful Irish Single Malt Irish love letter to apples.

The Ryan family is filled with characters covering six generation in the Whiskey business — from owning public houses to farming the barley and distilling the Spirits. Eunan Ryan started working in the family pubs at the age of thirteen — obviously this was before the advent of pesky child labor laws on such things. But today he runs the family Whiskey businesses, along with his Jack Ryan Whiskey Company in Dublin.

I just looked this up … Jack Ryan Toomevara 10 YO Calvados Finish just won “Best Single Malt Irish Whiskey” at the 2019 World Spirits Competition. And considering the Spirited competition they were up against, that is a mighty-fine accomplishment indeed!

It’s Jack Ryan's signature Single Malt Whisky aged ten years in ex-Bourbon casks and finished in Calvados casks from Chateau du Breuil near where the River Seine empties into the English Channel. It’s a simply gorgeous Irish served at an absolutely perfect 46% ABV and limited to 3500 numbered bottles.

Smartass corner:
In case you’ve forgotten, Calvados is an Eau de Vie made from apples in France. It gets its name from the Calvados region of Normandy that’s famous for producing this Spirit.

Whiskey producers lose on average about 2% of their stock a year to angels' share. For Jameson, the biggest one of the Irish Whiskey brands, it means 29 thousand bottles going into the air (literally) every day!
Irish Coffee recipe: 1 cup freshly brewed strong coffee, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 3-4 tablespoons Irish Whiskey, heavy cream - slightly whipped.
Locke’s, Tyrconnell and Kilbeggan were all historic brands that Cooley brought back to life.
In the U.S., Irish Whiskey sales have jumped by over 500% since 2002. It’s the fastest growing category in the Spirits industry. There’s some news to raise your glass to.
Irish Whiskey has many varieties: grain Whiskey, malted barley pot-still-distilled, and ‘pure pot-still’ (or ‘single pot still’ as it is now officially known). Then there is Poitin, one of the first Spirits ever made.
Whisky or Whiskey? The spelling differs geographically. In Scotland, Japan, and some other parts of the world, distilleries usually spell it Whisky; in Ireland and the USA, they spell it Whiskey.
