Small batch, big Fetch!

John Jameson founded Jameson Distillery in Dublin back in 1780. Since then Jameson became the most recognizable and sold Irish Whiskey in the world to this day. John Jameson was surprisingly a Scotsman but that didn’t stop him laying the foundation for the most famous Irish Whiskey. He used to enjoy sharing a drink and a story with his workers. And to this day you'll see two barrel men balanced on either side on the bottom of the label. These two men symbolize the generations of Jameson workers, who have labored with passion and commitment to produce Irish Whiskey.

Jameson Select Reseve Small Batch is a blend of 12 years old, pot still Irish Whiskey, and 5 year old Grain Whiskey, which is made only a few days of the year and isn’t used in by any other Jameson Label. This gives the bottle its small batch designation. The Whiskeys are matured in toasted Sherry casks and charred Bourbon barrels. The Select Reserve is hailed among Irish Whiskey fans as one of the best Jameson expressions.

Their guided tours offer complimentary drinks at their JJ’s Bar, named affectionately after John Jameson.
Jameson Whiskey is the result of the intermingling of dynastic Scotch Whisky families. After profitable marriages between the Steins (leading Scottish industrialists in the 1730’s, who at one point, had the largest distillery in the world), and the Haigs (who also had a neighboring Whisky empire), John Jameson married into the dynasty and subsequently dominated the Irish Whiskey industry.
Whiskey producers lose on average about 2% of their stock a year to angels' share. For Jameson, the biggest one of the Irish Whiskey brands, it means 29 thousand bottles going into the air (literally) every day!
The largest pot still in Midleton Distillery is now situated in the front yard of the distillery.
There are many Irish Whiskey varieties: grain Whiskey, malted barley pot-still-distilled, and ‘pure pot-still’ or ‘single pot still’ as it is now officially known. Then there is Poitin, one of the first Spirits ever made.
Irish Whiskey became the most renowned Whiskey and most popular Spirit in the 19th century after the outbreak of phylloxera and the total devastation of Cognac production in France.
