Everything you love about Jameson. Now add some Irish Stout finish.

Back in the late 1700’s Ireland, there was one powerful distilling family in two branches — the Haigs and the Steins. John Jameson was originally from Scotland, but married into the Haig family and moved to Dublin 1777 where he was put in charge of the new Bow Street Distillery. After working hard for years, he eventually acquired the entire operation in 1810 and the Jameson & Son Distillery Company was born. Since then Jameson has become the most recognizable and best-selling Irish Whiskey in the world delivering over 56 million bottles of golden Irish nectar each year.

So, the head distiller at Jameson was having a late night conversation with the brewmaster at Franciscan Well Brewery in Cork, Ireland. The two men hatched a plan. Jameson would send over a bunch of empty Whiskey casks and Franciscan’s would use it to mature their barrel-aged Stout lager. Then, he would send those casks back to age the Irish Whiskey.Caskmates,” get it? It was a bloody-good idea! What you get is a classic Irish Whiskey that radiates a subtle hop-iness and a bit of crushed almonds, among other things. Get yourself a bottle and see what happens when the guys who love the stuff get together and leave the suites and marketing flacks back at the office.

What does Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition (700ml) taste like?

The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition (700ml) and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Matejka
Matejka,
Fine, fine, but not really my taste. In my opinion beer cask is not ideal for whiskey. Maybe may bad, but I can't change my habbits. Sight: Nice color, nothing special. Nose: Weak and not really enjoyable for me, the beer lingering in the back. Taste: Like standard Jameson, but not. I can feel the taste of Stout and I can't pair it with Whiskey. :( :(

Amanda
Amanda,
Jameson really outdid themselves with their two caskmates. Although the iPa would be my preffered, the Stout edition cannot be faulted. Very smooth, and easy to drink. the spiral picks up on marzipan, but I just get roasted almond I am not picking up on the sweetness right away. Very nice smell, oaky and cocoa beans. Tastes of roasted almond and cocoa , and a very smooth and sweet finish with caramel notes.

Good whiskey if you're in the mood for a bit of beer flavor as well. Tastes like Jameson with a bit of Guinness finish.

I think I might like the IPA version a little better, but this is pretty good. I’ve liked other Jameson whiskies better.

If you like hops (and hoppy beer) you will like this. If you wish a delicious whiskey, this isn't your dram - but if you are looking for a decent tasting spirit its worth a bottle.

Smooth, sweet. Not as good as the Jameson stout cask mate.

Nancy
Nancy,
Stout Edition is by far a smooth sipper

Sean
Sean,
Chocolate aroma. Tastes smooth like you'd expect an irish whiskey to taste. Then you let it sit and you get an unmistakeable stout aftertaste. Very enjoyable

ron,
very good a *

Bryant
Bryant,
The only word I can come up with is interesting for this one. Not balanced enough for me, as I found the hop profile a bit overpowering. But I’m not a Jameson fan in general so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
