A top-selling bottling from the Jack Daniel distillery, the mashbill is made up of 80% corn, 12% rye and 8% malt. The spirit is filtered through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal to produce a mellow, slightly smoky character, thus making it Tennessee whiskey...
Member Reviews and Ratings of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey
Smell and taste are very sweet, most corn sweetness but also maple and oak. It's essential for every home bar. Ok alone, better with ice, but best with coke. Typical whiskey for mixers.
Reliable and unique, albeit a bit watered down.
My everyday drink, cheap and smooth for the price.
Great for BBQ sauce!
Sweet but smooth
Many years ago my daily drinker. But now, not so much. Kinda harsh.
An American classic. Perhaps it’s not considered top tier, but it’s one of my favorites.
Smooth and sweet
Smells nice out of the bottle. Nice burn and peppery when neat. First sip on the rocks smooth to start, then a little burn. Gets better with each sip. Ok to have on hand for slow sipping.
A classic American sour mash whiskey. As a mixer, nothing, and I mean nothing, goes better with a Coca-Cola.
Run of the mill
My go to
Was my go to until I started getting into bourbon
Basic mixing whiskey for socializing.
My family drink in Sigma Chi. Lot's of drunken fond memories with this bottle from high school and college. Would definitely recommend in smaller quantities. Good chilled with Coke.
Good, but a little too smooth. Not enough bite for my taste.
Damn good. Go to. Smokey a burn but great
perfect for mixing
can't stand it
Like it in a Tennessee mule
Not worth it.
Good for mixers
Just my go too every time. Can’t beat it for the price.
The go to for nostalgia and that taste of growing up. It’s rated moderately high for that reason alone.
It’s sour mash honey head, smokey body, and spicy vanilla finish is trademark. Mix with a coke for a spicy kick to your soda or drink it straight like me and remember the years of cheap drinks at bars and parties.
My go-to for basic whiskey, Jack&Coke, quick shot. Versatile and easy to shoot
Little harsh. Too oaky for me.
Say what you want, but its still the whiskey that started it all for me. I am not drinking it anymore, but its a great place to start. Harsh, not smooth, but still has a great feel and deep taste that only comes from Tennessee Whiskey. Do it the Sinatra way, but i do not recommend drinking straight.
I have to be in the mood for sour mash. Not knockin it, it has it place. Just have to be in that celebration, party mode. Nice to shake up the flavor from time to time. Quality Sour Mash but I tend more to smooth deep flavors.
good with coke
My easy go to after a run, or a long day.
Smooth, woody, cinnamon and smoke a decent drink.
Mixed with sprite only...
Jack and Diet used to be my go to. Tried it straight and it's decent. Notes of apple cider on the nose. Light mouth feel and slight oak and vanilla on the finish that fades into cinnamon or similar spice.
An oldie but a goodie. Can't drink it straigtht any more but it mixes well with coke...and even diet coke.
I DRINK THIS IF I'M WANTING JACK AND COKE.
This is an old classic for me. It is likely just a result of a childhood spent watching my old man drink the stuff and is now my own personal go-to
I know Jack is not the at the high end of the spectrum relating to whiskey qualities and complexity of flavor profile however, for an inexpensive whiskey that I always have on hand for any mix drinks or even pour neat I know what to expect and Jack always delivers
like an old friend.
Bit of a bite. Prefer over the Jack Daniel’s honey, but below the Jack Daniel’s Apple.
This was my starting whiskey. Still good but surpassed by others.
Not a fan of Jack, actually. When I remember the taste, I get a revulsion in the back of my mouth/throat. Same with Jim Beam, my first drink of hard liquor. I actually vomited the Beam. Though it was long long ago, I still shy away from these due to the memories.
Very very good
Great anytime whiskey. Sweet, woody.
The better half of a Jack and Coke!
Too spicy for my liking
My go-to for whiskey & diet Coke for decades for football fall Saturdays. I will never complain about this drink.
My go-to for mixed whiskey drinks. Good balance between cost, flavor and drink-ability.
Like it. Smokey oak taste
I like a lot of Whiskey's but Old No. 7 has always been my "go to" whiskey. I taste the torched oak barrel, and a hint of Vanilla. For me, the stronger the charred oak taste, the better. I'd be happy to get recommendations for other's that have that strong aroma and taste.
Not the best but it is always there for you and won't let you down.
One of the two most basic bourbons in the world. Always have one on the shelf.
The old tried and true. Not a sipper, but good for mixed drinks.
Not a huge fan.
classic flavour but unsmooth whiskey
Very smooth great charcoal taste, full bodied
Jack is jack
My favorite go to.
it's a fine, caramel-forward sipper, perhaps better suited to mixing
Easy to drink. Can't go wrong with this mixed or straight up.
I love the round flavour. It’s just nice!
Classic Tennessee whiskey, but IMHO best used as a mixer. Or a shot, if I’m trying to kickstart my heart before a fun evening.
Nothing better on its own or mixed. Nice, sweet, and smooth.
So sweet but affordable
This is a classic. Easy to drink. Everyone is a friend of Jack.
Good standard whisky for me.
Bought it for my wife and decided to try it neat instead of mixed with coke for the first time (double jack and coke was my go to in my twenties). Definitely not as good as my stash of bourbon but it’s cheap and tastes alright. Or maybe it tastes alright because it’s cheap.
Good mixing whiskey
I buy it regularly it’s good
Ole trusty Jack never lets you down.
This is the go to. Do I need to say more?
Always a solid choice.
Jack is Jack. Solid, but nothing eye-popping to me
Best with Coke
It reminds me of growing up, to this day it is rings Americana every time I drink it. If I am ever going to a part and liquor is requested I grab jack.
Ok for mixing with other drinks
A classic. It’s rough and bitter, but it’s such an icon I keep it in my bar for the same reason I keep Malort: the reputation.
Sorry, but this is probably my least favorite liquor. Bad flavor and rough finish. Not sure why people like it.
Sweet, hints of caramel and candy. Harsh, boozy finish. Not very enjoyable neat, probably best for mixing.
Good go to for a decent whiskey. Best as mixer than straight in our opinion.
Not great but not bad.
The alcohol itself is more noticeable than in a bourbon.
This is what I call the only man you can court on , always there for you ... jack is my bff , I like to add a splash of come and tiny bit of cherry juice to it time to time . Always on the rocks
Good with Coke that’s about it
Mixer only. I wouldn’t dare use my Speysides in a mixed drink!
It’s a Classic!
The american teenage/new drinker top choice.. classic whiskey staple.
Classic whiskey...I've associated it as Jack and Coke, but it has its place straight up neat or on the rocks. Wouldn't be my first whiskey of choice in that sense, but wouldn't be a bad option either.
Great for making a Jack and Coke, or chasing away a sore throat!
Just your standard whiskey. Not a fan of it alone but good in coke. (Sue me).
Can never go wrong with a bottle of Jack.
consistency,smooth,never a hangover
I look back at my youth and wonder why this was my go to. Ahhh… Youth is wasted on the young.
Just the best
This has been my go to for years. I prefer it on the rocks with water. It's a great mixer with coke, sour mix, or lemonade.
Gets the job done
Nose 👃 ; Notes of corn and banana with some yeast,
Taste 👅 ; Big banana and sweet corn, vanilla, oak with a light smoke,
Finish ; Long with some fruits and a light heat,
Doesn’t give me a migraine
A solid staple whiskey for mixing.
Mixes excellent with coke
This is a classic Tennessee bourbon. Smokey taste with some sweetness to it. Hard finish, good for mixers. If you are looking for a sipping whiskey, there are better ones out there. But Jack Daniel's should be a staple in any home bar.
My go to drink at a bar.
Turn on some Motley Crue and enjoy the buzz. An everyday classic for any occaison.
A mediocre whiskey, but can be really good with coke or Ginger.
All I could taste was the alcohol.
With the caramel notes and hints of oak, you can't go wrong with an old classic.
Can’t go wrong with Mr. Daniels.
Not fantastic but better than red label
Harsh with stiff yet surprisingly indistinguishable flavors.
Reminds me of college
Great especially with coke
It's ok. Not as good as Gentleman's Jack.
Everyday drinkable. Not great but definitely not bad either.
my cheap date - go to booze
A classic good whiskey that is good on the rocks and with Coke
My go to. I keep a bottle at home and office. Old reliable!
Not a fan
My go to everyday drink of choice
Not much to add, low flavor good for bonfire or bachelor party
Always been a JD fan, always as a mixer, but made the mistake of drinking this with a single cube on the same evening as a single glass of Eagle Rare 10 year old bourbon (and am historically a huge bourbon fan). This stark contrast ruined me. Someone else on here said it best - keep JD around so people won’t drink through the good stuff. So I will always keep JD #7 on the shelf but for mixing and for the casual drinker, but I realize now it can’t stack up with the number of BT bourbons on my shelf among other whiskey and whisky delights on my shelf.
I love jack and coke this one specifically with Vanilla Coke 🤯
Great full aroma. Finish is a little rough.
Some of the best whiskey on the planet. Good for sipping, drinking, and mixing.
Not a fan
The old go to...
This is my go to drink, I'll drink it on the rocks or mix with coke.
Kinda harsh, keep this to keep others from drinking my good stuff.
Jack has always been my go to whiskey when out with friends.
People who say Jack Daniel’s is smooth, never actually had a smooth whiskey.
I have this for when company comes over.
Swill. Sorry, but it’s not worth the hype. Not sure why it’s the top seller in the USA. Probably a good mixer?
Anything else. Literally anything else will do. Even as a mixer
Classic Old No.7. Just a great classic
There is a think oak and caramel flavor right away. A warm but bitter aftertaste with a pleasant smell. A bit gritty, but it does just fine on the rocks.
Pretty much got me through my early 20s.
It is drinkable barely. Needs to be mixed to be tolerated
Still one of my go to whiskey drinks.
Standard whiskey. Nothing special, but never bad.
caramel smokey taste very smooth to me
Jack and cola. Totally a mixer for the club in the US, Poland, Spain and everywhere else. Something that dragged on from early college.
It's Jack, what else do you need to say? Old reliable...
Standard. Good for mixing.
It’s JD. It’s a little sweet and the flavor isn’t complex, but it is tried and true.
Been drinking it since I was 15. A good whiskey I've liked for longer than most my friends
Smokey Oak, Full Bodied
Solid choice, C average. I like it.
Even though it's massed produced and popular, I still thoroughly enjoy it on the rocks. It's a main staple for me.
It’s good. Real good.
Good, but not my favorite whiskey
It's a classic and nice to have on hand but not a go to Whiskey for me!
Only for a mixer
Love it. It's my whiskey of choice.
After tasting different whiskeys with this club jack just tastes simple to me
Always been my go to.
Smooth and easy on the pallet. My usual goto when Gentlemen is not available.
After drinking good whiskey how could anyone call this good whiskey taste horrible.
No bar is complete without it. Jack and Coke , American as apple pie and Chevrolet
Grew up on this I always have a bottle in my Freezer.
I liked this one on the rocks. Mellow, a little bit sweet, a little bit smokey. I didn't like it neat. Light. Mild. Easy.
In a pinch I can still stomach Jack but he and I have had too many long nights and even longer mornings. We have a love hate relationship.
Easy, simple, your standard Jack.
Only good with Coke. No Pepsi. I know...mixing is a sin - but this isn't really a rocks Whiskey, is it?
My favorite. Been friends with jack for 40 years!!
Good solid whisky, mixes very well with cola and lemonade.
good but a little too much charcoal flavor
Always my go to when I'm sitting at home and just relaxing
Smooth sippin whiskey, staple at home and town I live one town over from Lynchburg so I am a fan.
My go to for decades, still tasty with Coke, but my tastes have matured.
It’s always been my favourite whiskey. From the very first smell to the slight burn in the finish, Jack is the best for me.
Tasty and effective
What's not to love about this classic?
It's Jack, what can you say? A home bar staple, good straight, neat, on the rocks, or as a mixer
This is my go to drink!
My go to
My go to. Easy to blend, smooth finish with rich taste.
Good Mixing Whiskey
Good mixer thats it
Just a simple one in my book. You can't go wrong with Jack... everyone knows it
Yuk, taste like liquid haggis !
I keep it around, some people seem to like it.
I prefer bourbon and good scotch.
Smokey and not too sweet!
Holzige Nase, holziger Geschmack mit Schokolade? Mittlerer Nachbrand. Etwas besonderes!
6/18 - Brasov
Good "Blue Collar" whiskey.
I like it with Ginger Ale.
Always a great go to
Cheap whiskey but definitely a good staple for any bar when you have some cola or root beer go mix it with.
If you cut my hubby, he would bleed Jack. It's his favorite Whiskey.
A good one to start on in my opinion. Pleasant to mix and decent on the rocks, Jack does the all-American thing rather well.
Its Jack lol if you haven't had it, idk what to tell you
Jack Sours mmmmmmm!!!
Essential for any home bar - an American classic that can be drank neat or mixed.
If this were put into a category of “every day” whiskeys, it would have received a 10 star rating. Hands down my favorite for daily use but had to get it a 7 with such stiff competition.
I love mixing it half and half with lemonade.
Deep and full of charcoal flavor. Our go to favorite!
Hard for me to drink on the rocks, but I love it with Coke. Everyone needs a (daily) guilty pleasure, right?
Long time favorite. Always the "go to" when out
This is my go to
Like it. A little too sweet though.
Simple, can’t go wrong and easy to find.
My number one, always go to whisky. A smooth faithful friend
Mediocre, at best.
Was my first. Introduced me to my passion for good whiskey and bourbon. Will always be a go to
great taste. The charcoal filtering filters out any impurities creating a great whiskey. Love the tastes notes from the new white oak barrels.
This is my go to everyday wishkey. Maybe because it was my first or because every bar has it.
just a good overall whiskey
For the price, you could get 2 bottles of a bottle with a better overall flavor.
As basic as it gets, but not bad. Has some bite.
It's Jack Daniel's. what more do you need?
Not my favorite. I keep it around so I dont have to serve my quality whiskey to people that cant tell the difference
Some are better, some are worse. But, this is where all comparisons start.
Mild flavor. Sweet with caramel and honey. Smoky notes. Hints of oak.
I generally don't sip Jack. I use it Jack and Gingers or use it to make Old Fashions/Manhattan's.
This is my drink over rocks with a splash of water hold the ice hold the water
Love it. Tastes of oak
Worst of all
Nice drink for everyday
Sour and not particularly enjoyable (I know it's a sour mash).
If you enjoy vomit- this is the whiskey for you!!
Classic sour mash. Military loved, as with me a veteran of 3+ wars, I can always come back to my roots of whisky with no e in it. Great have and always will love no. 7. American dream.
Not a fan
Jack and Coke.
It is what it is. Always dependable
For the price this is a decent whiskey but nothing characteristic to it
For this money I will always prefer a young and cheap SM or better: spend € 5-10 more and you'll get a real 10-12 yrs SM like Glenmorangie, Laphroaig or Old Pulteney in (sale).
Sometimes "The Old" things in life, especially those unchanged and unwavering remain The Best things in life. This is true with "The Old No. 7"
Met 1 ijsblokje komt hij los
Good and fine
good old stand by that you won't feel guilt adding to a mixture.
Good staple to have in the house. Typically puts guests at ease to see it in the repertoire.
After having better whiskeys jack will disappoint but I still enjoy it for jack and cokes. If you want a good whiskey to drink straight this isn't it
Has no depth of flavor. Just plain don't like it.
Posted rating kinda low. This was the first whiskey I ever consumed and being so I didn't treat it with respect so it hurt me. For two days it hurt me and the thin air on top of the Rocky Mountains didn't help this flat lander much either...., needless to say I was young. That was 36 years ago.
Under different circumstances in life this whiskey does have flavor and aroma that could be pleasing but one whiff still brings the wild urps near.
If it's good enough for Frank Sinatra, it's good enough to me!
What can I say...Jack is king!
Jack. The de facto standard of Tennessee whiskey and a true staple of Americana.
I always keep a bottle in my cabinet at all times.
"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."
Meh not that big of a fan of jack
Great whiskey. Not a complex dram, but by no means a discredit to the taste and quality. A true favorite.
Easy on the mouth
Sweet, caramelly, but smoky as well. Always keep a bottle of Jack's in the collection!
I always find myself returning.
75th Ranger Favorite!
I love how smooth this is. It leaves a nice aftertaste in your mouth.
Voor in de mix
Good whiskey. Pure goes well. Unobtrusive. Good gift. On every day.
Good solid tasting whisky; the kind that you chug in parties with friends. Combination with Coke is legendary.
Nice neat or mixed. Great go to Tennessee whisky, it's JD. Do I need to say more?!
