A Midwestern Gin built upon a lifetime of Gin distilling knowledge.

Founded by an Austrian immigrant Jacob Rieger and later taken over by his family, J. Rieger & Co. used to be the largest mail-order Whiskey in the world until the good ol’ Prohibition came up. Today, they are proudly back in Kansas City. I mean, somebody had to open up Missouri’s first distillery in almost a century!

In 2015, the distillery guys met Tom Nichol who was just retiring from his role as Master Distiller at Tanqueray. He was up for a passion project, though, and flew to Kansas City many times. Sharing his decades of Gin distilling experience with their Head Distiller Nathan Perry, Rieger's Midwestern Dry Gin was born. This full-bodied Gin proudly sources its inspiration from the traditional London Dry Gins. Forgot why everybody’s crazy about those? It’s their spicy and aromatic character that comes from the mature juniper berries. Sip it on the rocks or make a classic Gin cocktail.

London Dry Gin is not always from London. Gin does not have the same geographical restrictions as Spirits such as Cognac, Scotch, or Tequila. Only a tiny handful of London Dry Gins are actually made in the city.
Gin gets its dominant flavour from juniper berries. As with many other spirits, Gin was originally intended to be used as medicine. Yeah right!
Classifications of Gin: London Dry Gin, Plymouth Gin, Old Tom Gin, Genever or Dutch, New Western or new American or International style.
Juniper berry is the main ingredient of Gin. They are usually picked wild by independent workers throughout Europe and sold via distributors to Gin makers worldwide.
Hardcore Gin lovers say the word Martini should never be preceded by Vodka, lobster, or pomegranate. They say the original and the only real Martini consists of Gin, Vermouth & olives, period!
How much Tonic is in a Gin & Tonic? The ideal proportions for a perfect Gin & Tonic is one part Gin and two parts Tonic.
