Top reviews for Ironweed Rye Whiskey:
— Toasty and sweet
— Nice oaky, woodsy taste. Very smooth and strong
— Rye bread nose. Impressively calm nose for the abv. A touch of fruit in there as well. Sweet fruit on the palate, with some mild spice. A few drops of water wake up the rye, spice, and butterscotch. Raisin comes through strong a few minutes after a sip, and on the nose with some water. A few more drops and the spicy elements are fighting the raisins. I might skip that level and stick with the first splash of water. So much to unpack here, really delightful.

went great with cigars
You’ll like it if you are all about Cinnamon and spice forward. Left with an earthy mouth feel
Sweet start, but the raisin and clove in the middle overpower.
Doesn’t stand up to a good rye!
Really enjoyed this. Starts with a sweetness, cloves, and cinnamon, and finishes with butterscotch. Has a fruity aroma.
Spices, cloves, cinnamon, very bitter
So delicious. Sweet and full of flavor
Strong fruit - almost like a bag of dried apricots, bananas, prunes, and raisins. Spice of rye reminiscent of cloves and cinnamon. Butterscotch mouthfeel in the finish.
I enjoyed the heck out of this Lots of dried fruit, apricot & spiciness throughout with a nice caramel/vanilla finish. Love the balance and am definitely picking up a bottle.
Surprisingly smooth. Strong but not overwhelming sweetness to it.
I really liked this. I got caramel flavoring. Not a lot of bite. Would definitely like to order some more
Peaty nose, but not strong on the palate. spicy finish. Not bad.
Peaty, NY local, caramel
Reminds me of bit-o-honey candy. Has a floral or plant-y taste, too. Then the rye spice. Pretty light version of a rye.
Alternates between a harsh and sweet/aromatic nose, and then flavor follows with both the sweet, and adds some earthy spice. Long finish stayed with the sweet carrying through with holiday spice and fruit. Improves as you continued sipping
Spicy like something with an overabundance of cinnamon, but still enjoyable to drink.
Eh this was not great. I found the cinnamon and butterscotch on the nose way to overwhelming and that threw everything off.
The taste was almost like cinnamon flavored dirt. Very early and way sweeter than I like
Toasty and sweet
A little on the sweet side but a very drinkable rye whiskey. I don’t even need to cut it with water or ice which is very rare for a rye. One of the few whiskeys I can enjoy neat.
Cinnamon is the most predominant taste for me... I dont like cinnamon. Everything else about it was pleasant.
This is my first time tasting a rye whiskey, and I love this! The sweet butterscotch lingers and is very pleasant.
A really smooth rye. The butterscotch finish does a great job of balancing out the spicy notes from the rye. It gets sweeter in subsequent sips.
First time tasting rye. New to the whisky tasting thing. But it has the best aroma of anything I’ve sampled so far. The finish is great and the taste flavors are very full. I like it when I didn’t think I would.
Too sweet tasting for me it was overpowering all the other flavors
Earthy, sweet, smooth, and spicy. This is a pretty good rye whiskey. Noticed immediate citrus and clove on the nose.
Smooth and caramelly! Dark and cteamy!
Great nose, great finish, but a little too harsh in between. The spicy sweetness is nice though.
Lots of sweet tea on the nose. Good drinker. Would drink again.
I'm not a rye whiskey fan but this was very approachable.
It is a very good, intense, Rye Whiskey that has an aromatic birth; while a rich & bold life leads to a balanced death of medium length with a hint of oak, fire & earth.
Cinnamon and maybe nutmeg in the nose, sweet in the middle, warm finish. Good winter whiskey. Would be perfect with pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving.
The nose was cinnamon and dark fruit and the taste was spicy and earthy with a bit of butterscotch.
Very smooth and sweet. Really enjoyed it.
Really smooth! The sweetness was very notable and added a lot of complexity.
Really peasant and smooth. The flavors are light and understated, but prominently feature notes of aperol, raisins, and butterscotch. Might even be paired with dessert!
Nose: Raisin, banana
Taste: Raisin, dark fruit, spicy
Aftertaste: cinnamon, spicy, sweet
Really good. Maybe a tad on the hot side but mellowed as my palate adapted. I’d buy a bottle of this for sure.
Kinda sharp, but good. Not as good as the other Rye
Spicey and earthy with an undertone of fruit flavour. Strong but smooth. Really enjoyable.
Smooth by itself. I can definitely taste the caramel. I’d buy it again. It would taste nice in an Old Fashioned.
Less spicy than expected, sort of thin, sweet at the front and lots of baking spice at the finish. Very interesting.
One of the better New York whiskeys I’ve tried. Probably won’t add it to my rotation.
One of the best I have sampled.
Color is amber. Nose is rye spice, cinnamon, and wheat undertones. First sip is a mildly sweet mix of cinnamon, rye spice, and mild green notes. Mouthfeel is slightly thin, but not too thin. Finish is a nice tail of sweet cinnamon, along with some other baking spices. Overall, a nice, smooth, mildly sweet cinnamon flavor that is not at all bad, if may be a little boring. Probably not worth the price, but if offered, definitely not a drink to turn down.
Love this simple but tasty rye whiskey. Would taste fantastic in an Old Fashioned.
Sweet cinnamon. That’s all you need to know. It’s amazing an shuttle with a perfect smooth finish.
Quite smooth for a rye with that abv
Loved it. Great finish and love the flavor of left on my tounge.
Just the right blend of flavors. None overpowering. Smooth
Nice rye. Decent price point. Spicey, but not very hot at all considering 59%abv. Nothing eye opening or super distinctive though.
"Typical dill-esque nose that comes with ryes. Taste is a lot of herbs like clove. Raisons. Sweet after taste."
Nice smooth whiskey
This is a very smooth and sweet rye.
Nice oaky, woodsy taste. Very smooth and strong
Rye bread nose. Impressively calm nose for the abv. A touch of fruit in there as well. Sweet fruit on the palate, with some mild spice. A few drops of water wake up the rye, spice, and butterscotch. Solid rye whiskey
Definitely get the spicy and cinnamon. The rye isn’t overpowering, but present.
Sweet rye. Cinnamon and raisin on the nose. Cinnamon and dark fruits continue in the palate. Still sweet. Spice comes in midway through into the palate and lingers on the finish. Very nice rye.
First rye I’ve had, got to say it’s a good drinker, warms the belly fruit forward with a caramel spice finish
Sweet nose, spicy but smooth palate, and fruity raisin lasting finish. Will definitely buy again.
