Top reviews for Ilegal Mezcal Reposado:

― As a scotch drinker I was immediately hooked on this bottle due to the strong smoky taste and the fact that it's so smooth. I'd never had mezcal before, but needed some for some recipes. I figured tequila would do but I should stick to the recipe - glad I bought this. Similar to scotch, I found out quickly that I like it on the rocks rather than in a drink. I've purchased several bottles of this since and would highly recommend this bottle.

― one of my favorite mezcals

― One of the best Mezcals on the market point blank. You can detect the hint of white pepper and the taste... let me say, is one of the smoothest I've had the luxury of experiencing. You can detect the smoke after nosing it for a bit. I have sipped some of the more expensive Repasodo Tequilas on the market and this one will have a permanent place on my shelf.

Appearance / Color
Smell / Nose / Aroma
Agave with notes of chilli smoke. Not overwhelming but a nice addition to the aromatic flavors. Fruit also comes through, with sweet, juicy pears and apples.
Flavor / Taste / Palate
A smooth, sweetness takes over, with rich butterscotch and caramel coming through. There is a taste of vanilla and wood smoke, with evidence of the cask growing stronger.
Fruity orange appears and the oak wood of the cask really reveals itself. The finish is strong and lasting.
