Reviews and Tasting Notes

Appearance / Color
Medium Amber

Nose / Aroma / Smell
The aroma is the perfume of the northern seas with notes of peat, wet grass, kelp, and sea spray.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
The flavors are perfectly balanced with an oily mouthfeel, smooth grain-forward palate, plenty of peat, and a sweet apple under-layer.

Finish
The finish is long and malty with a lingering iodine note.

Jaakko,
The packaging looks exactly like a Bowmore's, heh. Still, let's open this up, eh. Colour looks fiiine. Dark amber, looks nearly like there could be ash. Tough. Smell reminds me a bit of Laphroaig, but it's different. Smoky, but there's a medicinal element to is. Fallen leaves or cut grass, that has been left there for a while? Some sweet element that reminds me of some other alcohol. Sherry, brandy? Taste begins which wood, smoky wood. The wood evaporates but the smoke stays with you. It's different from all the other ones I have. Pretty one-note and I don't get the same feeling of superior quality that some whiskys just give you. Maybe it's the medicinal tint this one has. Still, interesting and ok. Will enjoy every once in a while and not bad for it's price.

Etienne
Etienne,
I like the mystery that comes with this whisky. Nice smokey nose and finishes with a smokiness as well. Quite a delicate peat whisky.

guest,
A really peaty Islay. Sweet start, no middle and peaty and spicy pepper finish. Antiseptic after taste. Would get a Laphroig instead next time.
