The best Caribbean Rums gathered around the finest 12YO Jamaican Rums.

During the dry years a.k.a. the Prohibition, a special airline flew thirsty Americans to Cuba, serving them cocktails in highball glasses – The Highball Express. Named after this tradition, Highball Express is a brand that curates and blends fine Rum from the ‘Wet islands’ and brings them to the ‘dry States’. Each of their Rums is built around the chosen ‘core’ Rum to which different aged Rums are married – coming from Panama, Nicaragua, Jamaica, Barbados, Dominican Republic and Trinidad. This makes Highball Express Rums super complex and exciting.

Highball Express 12 Reserve Blend is at the heart of their collection. The finest 12YO Jamaican Rums are married with sweet tropically aged Rums from Guyana, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. And what does a tropical dance like that taste like? It’s quite unique, so you’ll need to taste for yourself, but what we can tell you is there’s plenty of dark fruit and vanilla on that full-flavored and medium-bodied palate.

We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

If the center of our galaxy had a signature scent, it would be Rum. Yup, astronomers studying a giant cloud in the Milky Way found a substance called ethyl formate, a chemical that smells suspiciously like Rum.
Rum (usually) comes from molasses, the sweet and syrupy residue of refining sugarcane into sugar. Molasses is over 50% sugar, but it also contains significant amounts of minerals and other trace elements, contributing to the final flavor.
Rum used to be accepted as a form of currency in Europe and Australia, a practice we should probably bring back into fashion.
A little bit of etymology; nobody really knows where the word Rum comes from. The most popular suggestions are Rum (the Romani word for 'potent'), Rumbullion (an uproar), Saccharum (sugar in Latin), and Rummer (a Dutch drinking glass).

Mount Gay Rum is the oldest existing Rum company in the World dating back to 1705. This is also the year Guy Fawkes tried to blow up Britain’s Parliament.
