A brilliant Straight Bourbon made from rare 100% Jimmy Red corn that you can have for the first time.

High Wire Distilling Company is Charleston’s first operating distillery since Prohibition. It was founded by serial entrepreneur and Culinary Institute of America trained baker Scott Blackwell and his wife Ann Marshall. They had worked side-by-side running a specialty bakery which they sold to General Mills in 2012. The next step for them was a venture into Spirits, when the husband-wife duo opened High Wire in 2013. And not only has the venture been successful with a slew of product releases based on a culinary approach, but in 2019 they were nominated for a James Beard Award — considered the top honor in the food industry — in the category of Outstanding Wine, Beer, or Spirits Professional category.

Jimmy Red corn is an extremely rare — some would say endangered — variety of corn from the Charleston area. High Wire worked with the local university and professional seed rescuers to plant a dedicated field to produce enough Jimmy Red for production. Since Jimmy Red is high in natural oils that are left in the mash, the Spirit has a very creamy mouth-feel and nutty/sweet flavor profile. New Southern Revival Jimmy Red Straight Bourbon is 100% Jimmy Red corn Spirit aged a minimum of two years and bottled at 51% ABV, allowing the full flavor to shine through. The first release came out in 2018 and sold out within ten minutes. The fact that you can get a bottle of this rare gem for yourself now is a little bit of a miracle.

Smartass Corner:
Jimmy Red is a variety of corn that nearly went extinct. In South Carolina it used to be known as a legendary moonshiners corn with a brilliant red hue. After the last farmer raising it passed away, his family gave the last two cobs to renowned "seed saver" Ted Chewning who rescued the grain from extinction.

Ratings & Reviews
Solid bourbon. The only complaint is the price. I’d be all in at $65 a bottle. But I guess you are paying for uniqueness.
maybe just a touch young but incredible flavor profile anyway. there's something about the red heirloom corn mash bill...impressive and i want to try the sherry cask finish and cask proof versions
Fantastic pour. Slightly sweet taste and smell and very smooth from Start to finish.
Fantastic bourbon! Very unique!
12 stars!! Perfect bite. Rich, sweet.
Nose of Biscoff cookie, sugary caramel, brown sugar, and a pineapple yellow cake type of thing. Very good. Flavors of leather, pepper/spice, and a lingering caramel on the lips. But the body was very lacking and the finish was gone in a flash. Aroma was great, taste was pretty good, mouthfeel and finish quite lacking unfortunately. 5.5/10
Unique and amazing
It’s not bad, but I am looking for more undertones of flavor than this has to offer
Spicy! Really good and different. Enjoyable!
Sweet all the way through. Toffee on the nose. Grain and spice on the mouth and sweet corn finish.
Now this is a unique bourbon! Got to chatting about this with a local while in SC, gave it a try and wow - I like it more with each glass. The red corn has a very distinct, sweet smooth flavor that is unlike any bourbon I’ve tried.
