Cody,
I had the privilege of trying this for the first time recently and I was blown away. I'm almost exclusively a drinker of Japanese whiskies at this point and this blew them all out of the water. It is incredibly smooth with a soft richness to the taste. Some of those earthy and woody tones are there but they're just subtle enough to blend with sweeter flavor components and make one of the most enjoyable drams I'm sure I'll ever have. This is a step above the rest and absolutely worth the price to try.

Splendid. Too bad it has become so expensive in recent years. There was a time you could buy all you want at Narita for $38 a bottle.
Hibiki 17 Year Old Gold Label
Toshinao,
Simply the best and the whiskey that brought me into this new hobby. IMHO the 17year is better than the 21. Never had the 30 sadly. Also 17year in various casks were interesting but the original is the best. Too bad it’s $1k a bottle now.

Smooth and a favorite but for some reason it leaves me still searching for something more. It's great, just... maybe too smooth. Nice and complex, though.

Wasn't overly smoky as some others that I have had, proper level of smokiness for me!

Landis,
It's right up there with the 17 year old. Different blend that goes down easy. I didn't understand how one could enjoy whisky before the Hibiki line. Lol, it's been my gateway drink to other brands and blends.
Hibiki 21 Year Old

Landis,
One of the greats! My first bottle lasted about a month. Had I known it's popularity was going to explode I would have bought more and put them under lock and key. It's a rare find at most bars in the US & Japan.
