In 1994, Kim Jong Il was the world's largest single buyer of Hennessy Cognac.
Richard Hennessy (an Irish aristocrat!) moved to France in the mid 18th century, served 12 years in the French Army to gain his citizenship, and then opened his distillery in 1765. The talents of seven generations of cellar-masters from the Fillioux family have enabled Hennessy to constitute the most remarkable reserves of rare eaux-de-vie in the world.
The Hennessy Fine De Cognac was originally blended for a Prince. The future King George IV of England asked Hennessy in 1817, to deliver a superior, old and pale brandy.
This blend presents an aromatic balance, coming from 60 different eaux-de-vie, from the four highest cru zones of the Cognac region. Hennessy Fine de Cognac is a blend of 4 to 25 year old eaux-de-vie.
Trivia:
Did you know that Hennessy was actually founded by an Irishman?
