No need to knock ― bust right in.

In 2018 Bob Dylan registered the trademark for "Bootleg Whiskey", setting in motion a series of events that would lead him to collaborate with Master Blender Ryan Perry and Marc Bushala. The first is an experienced Spirit-crafter who cut his teeth on new & used cask programs for various Spirits under some of the largest producers, the second the entrepreneur behind Angel's Envy Bourbon. In early 2018 they cut a deal to craft a line of Bourbons in collaboration with the famous poet, troubadour, folk-rock music hero, and Nobel Prize winner. This is how the "Heaven’s Door" line of premium Spirits came to be. And unlike many-many other so-called "celebrity brands" that are all marketing hype, it has won over 40 medals along with a bunch of other accolades — presented in stunning artistic bottles.

While their core lineup is impressive, the Bootleg Series is just a bonkers collection of rare Spirits. In 2019 it was the Mizunara-oak-finished 26-year-old that blew our socks off. The 2020 edition is a 15-year-old Straight Bourbon that leaves us barefoot once again. Finished in Jamaican pot-still Rum casks and bottled at cask strength, it's a thing of beauty. It isn't just the complex richness of the liquid within, it's the whole package. The handmade bottle features Dylan's Sunset, Monument Valley painting, while the numbered box is reminiscent of a leather-bound journal.

Appearance / Color
Golden Brown

Nose / Aroma / Smell
It's a complex and inviting nose with a maple-syrupy sweetness, dark chocolate, tobacco, and cornbread.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
Rich and deep, there's notes of dried apricots, sandalwood, nutty overtones, and a dialed-down sweetness on the palate.

Finish
The finish truly lets those Jamaican Rum casks shine with toasted oak & coconut, spices, and sugar cane.

Bourbons are very high in vanilla, as American White Oak is naturally high in vanillins.
Bourbon must be made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn.
Bourbon matures quicker than Scotch due to higher temperatures in American warehouses.
At any given time, there are more barrels of Bourbon in Kentucky than there are people. The population of the Bluegrass State is about 4.4 million. Today there are more than 5 million barrels of Bourbon sitting in the rick-houses of that Old Kentucky Home. That’s nearly 300 bottles of Bourbon per person, or about 60 gallons each.
Sure, Kentucky gets all the press when it comes to Bourbon. And with good reason—nearly 95% of it is produced there. But Bourbon can be made anywhere as long as it's within the United States. Just ask states with budding distilleries like Illinois and New York.
Bourbon Is a ''new barrel Spirit'': One of the legal requirements for Bourbon is that it only be aged in brand new oak charred barrels.
