A delicate Campbelltown Single Malt with the aroma and tannin of fine Italian Wine.

Springbank Distillery is one of the precious few holdouts in three, unique ways. The first is that they are still family owned — the Mitchell family has owned and operated Springbank officially since 1828. The second is that they are one of only two distilleries left in Campbelltown. The third is that they are one of only two distilleries in Scotland that controls all aspects of production on the same premises — from malting to bottling. Springbank produces a range of Whiskies across the favor spectrum, from sweeter “finished” drams through peated and spicy sippers in three brands, including Longrow, Hazelburn, and their namesake Springbank.

Hazelburn 9 Year Old Barolo Wood is a fine example of Springbank’s core, unpeated Single Malt spirit aged for six years in ex-Bourbon casks, then finished for three more years in Barolo Wine barrels. This unique wood pairing brings a slight blush of red hue and a light aroma of roses to the Whisky. Like all Hazelburn Single Malts, there are no artificial colorings and the spirit is never chill-filtered.

Smartass corner:
Long hailed as one of Italy’s greatest Wines, Barolo is a signature spirit from the northern Italian region of Piedmont and made from Nebbiolo grapes under the strictest legal specifications. For example, the grapes must be grown on dry hillsides that do not face north.

Scotch Whisky is seldom aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation. In addition to that, Whisky is often matured or finished in various wine casks such as Sherry or Port.
