Hancock’s is named after Hancock Lee — an early settler and surveyor who measured the land on which the Buffalo Trace Distillery sits. Our sources suggest that they introduced the brand in 1991, during a period of rapid product expansions.
Hancock’s Reserve is a single barrel product — which means that you will notice some variance from bottle to bottle and year to year. It is made from Buffalo Trace’s #2 mash bill with 15% Rye. Also there is no age statement.
Hancock's follows nearly all of the same specifications as Buffalo Trace's premium product, Blanton's. The difference is that Blanton’s gets the more premium barrels and is aged a bit longer on average.
