— Very much enjoyed this rum - hadn’t had very much rum before. The nose presents very strong with a vanilla , and maybe even some banana smells. The finish was spectacular and made me a fan of rum. Very much enjoyed this and hope to find it again!

Tyler,
First sip is super hot, then mellows out. vanilla extract, oak
Jeffrey,
Tastes like kerosene. Hot. Burns. Poor aftertaste.
William,
A little fruit. A little wood. Tastes like every rum you would get in any all inclusive Caribbean resort. Good, but nothing special.
Troy,
Very much enjoyed this rum - hadn’t had very much rum before. The nose presents very strong with a vanilla , and maybe even some banana smells. The finish was spectacular and made me a fan of rum. Very much enjoyed this and hope to find it again!
Jarrod,
Was ok, don’t like the after taste.
Joseph,
A combination of fruit followed by spiciness. I am a bourbon drinker and I prefer bourbon to this rum. I am glad I tried it. The tasting box served its purpose. I would not seek out a bottle of this rum.
Jude,
It was ok, honestly could barely taste it. To put it in perspective, when getting the tasting box this was the first drink and was quickly forgotten by the end of the tasting. Decent rum, not quite the best.
Thomas,
Bland tasting, it was smooth that was about the only good thing about this rum
Brian,
Dry and spicy. Burned more than I like.
John,
Rubbing alcohol
Alex,
Pretty good rum, very woody. Really close to a whiskey but you can definitely tell it is a rum with its sweetness.
Jason,
Starts out pretty toasty and dry, but the sweetness and vanilla take over the oakiness each sip.
Joe,
I have to agree it's a rum for bourbon drinkers. It's extremely light, short on the palate, astringent on the nose, yet citrus and vanilla linger. Overall, enjoyable rum but better can be found at the price.
Alan,
Spicy but smooth and satisfying
Greg,
G: def won’t have neat. Main flavor is a toasty bourbon-y-ness
M: tastes kind of bland in overall flavor. Just heat
Adam,
Awful start to finish.
Miles,
I'd agree that this is a rum for bourbon lovers. I enjoyed it and think I'll buy a bottle to share among my whiskey drinking friends.
Michael,
Spice, oak, sweetness.
Stephen,
Harsh, and does not come off like a rum. It's not bad, and would not turn it down if offered, but would not pick up a bottle either.
Ray,
Tasted this blind and thought it was bourbon. TONS of oak, no sweetness.
brandon,
close to a good whiskey. a good bite and enjoyable
Elizabeth,
I tried this neat and w/ pineapple in the mix. It's a very strong smell, spicy and finishes harshly, not smooth at all. With pineapple, you can taste the alcohol much more. This isn't as good as I expected for an 8-year-old rum.
Brent,
Surprisingly harsh for an 8 year. Good for a mixer I suppose.
Liam,
Not bad, decent pepper but not very flavorful
Robert,
Loved it. Very smooth.
Daniel,
Starts hot then mellows with a warm finish. Taste of alcohol dominates and doesn’t let the flavors shine all that well. Not my favorite.
Pierre,
Dark flavor and smooth but a spicy foretaste. Not my cup of tea
Michael,
Do not really like this one. It’s really hot in the throat and nasal cavity. Not for me
Louis,
Nice after taste. Harsh start.
Ryan,
I would describe this as complex in the sense that at first the alcohol taste is slightly overwhelming, but quickly resembles a whisky and ends with a vanilla/caramel taste. Echoing other reviews, this wouldn’t be my go-to for sipping but it has an interesting taste that would go well in a mixed drink.
Kelli,
But if a sharp taste - not one I could sip on its own, but did mix well with Diet Coke.
Samantha,
This tasted like cheap rum. The flavor profile was overshadowed by the alcohol taste.
Benjamin,
There’s a really complex flavor profile with this one. I really appreciate the experience of this rum. I do think it’s quite a unique rum. A lot of reviews are comparing it to whiskey more than rum, it definitely has whiskey character to it but it still has a rum sweetness to it. It has a very warm burn in the back of your throat that I love. All in all, I don’t think it’s my favorite rum, but I think it’s great if you’re wanting something bold and expressive.
Jeff,
Had light notes of vanilla and was toasty tasting. I would gladly purchase this.
John,
For me this was a home run from the aroma to the initial taste to continued sipping through to the finish
Ajit,
Smoky, little sweet. Smooth with a dry finish. More like a whiskey than rum. But not my fav.
Holly,
Best rum ever. Bourbon fans will appreciate this unique rum. My only complaint is that it’s so hard to find.
Don,
It’s smooth with and nice
Michael,
Reminds me more of whiskey than rum. Not bad but not incredible either
Chase,
Smooth start and good aftertaste but it leaves a strange flavor in my mouth.
Paul,
Little too much attack for my tastes, a bit harsh and cigary; too spice/pepper flavor & dry & proofed up.
chris,
as a whiskey drinker this is the smoothest thing ever, very dry at the end
Antti,
It is a very good, dark rum aged for 8 years that has a rich birth; while a rich & oaky life; that leads to a long, dry & delicate death.
Lindsey,
Not bad for a standard rum but not good for an 8 year rum. To me, this is a top shelf mixer not a stand alone sipper or high end aged rum.
Steven,
Ok but astringent
Becca,
Not bad but not amazing
Nelo,
Smooth, not much flavor. Not too exciting. light flavors clearly taste the alcohol.
Sarah,
Very smooth to begin with, tastes like a light whiskey. Not much depth in flavor.
Michael,
Its not bad but it doesn't really have much flavor - smooth but without depth.
Joshua,
Bright copper color indeed and believable they are not adding any sugars or coloring to their rum. Dry and drinkable but lacks real character. Very light oak and vanilla flavor that ends on a spice note. It would be acceptable for mixing and cocktails but not a go-to sipping rum. It also lacks a real age statement from the TTB and Flaviar's description even leads you to believe its a blend of ages. Glad I tried it, but will not be picking up a bottle anytime soon.
