The famous Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge Liqueur has never been equaled.

Jean Baptiste Lapostolle had a small corner distillery in Neauphle-le-Chateau, France where he made fruit Brandies and Liqueurs. His granddaughter Jean married Louis-Alexandre Marnier, and thus Maison Marnier-Lapostolle was born. The Grand Marnier brand was acquired by Campari Group in 2016 after nearly 200 years. The company has produced a range of Spirits, but the Grand Marnier name is synonymous with their famous, orange-flavored Cordon Rouge.

Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge was invented in 1880. Louis-Alexandre was inspired by the Curacao Liqueurs of the Caribbean and combined fine French Cognac with exotic bitter and sweet orange zests and cane syrup to create his signature Spirit. Without a doubt, Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge is the king of orange Liqueurs.

Smartass Corner #1:
Louis-Alexandre Marnier Lapostolle was close friends with Caesar Ritz — founder of the famed Ritz Hotel. It was Caesar Ritz who dubbed the new Spirit "Le Grand Marnier"… "The great Marnier."

Smartass Corner #2:
"Cordon Rouge" means "red ribbon" in French and refers to the sealing ribbon on the neck of the bottle. The company also produced a Cordon Jaune (yellow ribbon) version that was discontinued in 2017.
