The Glenlochy Distillery was founded in the middle of the town Fort William. This distillery is another one founded during the Whisky boom.
David McAndie founded the distillery in 1898, naming it Glenlochy-Fort William Distillery. From the First World War, the distillery experienced a lot of ups and downs, and in 1983, Glenlochy was taken out of service.
The distillery used water from River Nevis and had one wash and one spirit still. Floor maltings were used until 1968, until they were replaced with the drum maltings at the Glen Ord Distillery.
