The fifth release from Glenlivet's cellar collection, this rare Speysider is another hit in the distillery's long and successful career. Speaking about hits: this one was distilled in 1964, the same year The Beatles broke out into the US market with a chart-topping single From Me to You. And just like the Liverpool band, so does The Glenlivet enjoy a cult following.

And how could it not? This cask strength Single Malt of 90.2 proof (45.1% ABV) stroke all the right chords with The Glenlivet Master Distiller Jim Cryle in 2004 when he was charged with the task of hand-selecting a vintage to be included in the legendary Cellar Collection—a proud and long-running tradition on its own—and to be released for the distillery's 180th anniversary. This special release features the best of Sherry hogsheads and oak hogsheads, a beautiful ensemble of flavors perfectly in tune with each other.

Only 1824 bottles were filled, each hand-signed by Jim, and packed in a beautiful oak presentation case.

Is Scotch always Scottish? What do you think? Yes. The answer is yes.
Can Scotch go bad? Technically, an unopened bottle of Scotch can last forever. Air is the only true evil to Whisky; once the liquid is oxidized it is no longer immortal. After opening, as long as you store your Whisky in a cool, dry place, it will last another 5 years.
Categories of Scotch Whisky: Single malt, Blended malt (formerly called Vatted malt), blended, single grain and blended grain Scotch.
Beer and malt Whisky seem to have quite a bit in common. Both drinks begin with malted barley, which deliver the enzymes and sugars needed for fermentation when steeped in hot water. The two go their separate ways at the wash stage, where they're fermented or aged to become the adult beverages you know and love.
Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made in Scotland using a pot still distillation process at a single distillery, with malted barley as the only grain ingredient. It must be matured in oak casks in Scotland for at least three years (most Single Malts are matured longer, though).
Whisky distilling goes way back to 1494 when the first recorded batch was made by a posse of monks who acquired about 60 gallons of barley and decided to turn it into "aqua vitae". They created the first 1,500 bottles of Scotch in History.
