Member Reviews and Ratings of Glenfarclas 21 Year Old
It is well priced for a 21 yo single malt scotch, but I don't believe it is priced too low: the experience is in line with the price. It has clear sherry influence that is not overpowering. The palate is a bit thin and the finish is a little too short for me. Overall a nice whisky but not necessarily one that I would reach out for often.
Nose has big apple, sweet spice, sugary pie crust. Taste is just more apple and fruit with a dry finish. Great heavy body but I've grown to learn over the past few months that full-blown sherry fruit bombs just aren't my thing. This wasn't bad mind you, just did very little for me and I can think of 20+ others I'd pick over this one. Need more complexity beyond the sherry fruit.
Very smooth. Sweet tasting. Not overbearing with oak or anything of the sort.
Incredible. Rich, complex, lots of oak and wood and sherry with one of the longest finishes I’ve very experienced. I can see why the price is what it is
Spicy, extremely smooth. Woody, feels like a pine forest with a winter gust in the face. Rosewood on the nose and palate end.
Smooth, some sweet, soft, light citrus, fruitcake. Delicious.
Seagrass hint of orange. Lingering smooth taste
Amazing 21 year and incredibly cheap for its year. Must have
It is an outstanding, complex, Single Malt Scotch Whisky that has an aromatic birth; while a rich & complex life leads to a long & bold death with a hint of oak.
Really quite good, very complex palate with much intrigue. Dark, slightly smoky with a nutty, cocoa base - not for fans of sweet whiskey. I received this in a tasting box and it is certainly a bottle a would get in the future.
I'm not a huge fan Glenfarclas on the whole, I think that they lag behind other Speyside distilleries in terms of their taste and finish, but this is by far the nicest offering i've tasted from them. I do like whiskies that utilise sherry casks, and the sweetness does come through with this one. I must say though that with it being a 21 y/o, I expected more from it to be honest. Bottle it as a NAS and I'd probably give it an extra star, but theres a fair bit of competition in the sherry cask whisky market, and that '21' label means it should be punching towards the top, but unfortunately its more middle of the pack. A nice dram, but doesnt quite match its price tag.
A bit underwhelmed. First Glenfarclas that I have had in my cabinet, and maybe I over-expected. That said, I just finished the bottle, so by no means was it "bad". Felt a bit bland to me, with no real exciting notes.
Excellent. Smooth. Lays easy on the palate. Sherry definitely up front but then finishes with sweet notes and lingering flavor. Great whisky
Loved it. Super smooth.
Really nice whisky with rich sherried aromas and flavours. A little on the pricey side for the quality imo, but really enjoyed it all the same.
Really liked it.
A complex aroma, almost too much to distinguish individual aromas. Nice and buttery with a nice finish. One of my favourites so far
Interesting! Full body, buttery. I think the sherry is a little bit overpowering. A splash of water helps. I would drink again, but not sure I would purchase the bottle at that price point.
Tasted in a set. Sherry is dominant, with strong red apples and oak.
Exceptional quality with rich taste.
Very nice! Good taste and easy to sip.
The most unique whisky I’ve ever tasted. Very light on the palate. I expected something much stronger and it hit me with this crisp initial thing. I guess it was the sherry. Delightful is the only way I can describe it.
Amazing, smooth peaty and full of flavour
Interesante. Aromas a frutas secas y madera. Retrogusto potente.
Not up to par with other much younger scotches
Tastes like monkey piss
How do you know what monkey piss tastes like?
I rate whisky by taste. As this was from a sherry cask, and I love whiskies from sherry casks it was perfect.
A nice group of flavors, especially the sherry. This ends with a nice finish that makes this one a favorite
Go with the 12 year. Can taste a bit of the raisin here. Good. But not twice as good as the 12.
I must say I disagree. I feel the spirit came to fruition in 21 years. The 12 is also an excellent choice. But mmm that 21. The 25 is not so much worth the jump in price in my humble opinion.
Great flavor. Best neat
Nice! Full flavored and sweet with a touch of brandy and fruitiness.
One of the best experiences I had, a great scotch with full flavor
Excellent, smooth and well worth the wait
Not my cup o tea, it is probably one of the best for those with tolerable palats, but it was a little too harsh in the finish for me.
Literally one of the greats.
The 21 year old is awesome and is the best I have ever tasted.
By far the best in the series! Don't waste time on the 10 and 12. Pay the extra for the 17 or 21.
