A Single Cask, 54.7% ABV kick in the right.

The Glendronach Distillery was founded in 1826 and stands as one of the first licensed distilleries in Scotland. It is located in a secluded spot in Aberdeenshire and dedicated to producing richly Sherried Scotch style with their 4 copper pot stills.

Every year their master distiller Billy Walker selects a handful of individual casks from their warehouses to be bottled as Limited Releases. The maturing Whiskies date back as far as 1968 in a vast selection of barrels, hogsheads, puncheons and butts.

The Glendronach 1993 20 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Butt was released as part of their 8th batch in August 2013, after a 20 year maturation in an Oloroso Sherry butt. Only 669 of this single cask release were ever bottled, at a 54.7% ABV.

Scotland is home to more than 20 million casks of maturing Whisky. That’s four for every person living there. Nuts!
All of the workers at GlenDronach lived on site, including the distillery manager, staff, excise man, brewer and all of their families.
Scotch Whisky is seldom aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation. In addition to that, Whisky is often matured or finished in various wine casks such as Sherry or Port.
It was believed that the front room is haunted by a Spanish lady, who travelled over to Scotland in a Sherry cask.
In 2009, the new owners invested around 7 million GBP in the GlenDronach distillery.
Is Scotch always Scottish? What do you think? Yes. The answer is yes.
