The signature, founding dram of a classic Speyside Single Malt aged exclusively in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks.

Glen Moray was born as West Brewery run by Robert Thorne & Sons. It was converted into a Whisky distillery in 1897. From the very start, quality has been job one. The dedication and "authenticity" of Glen Moray’s Single Malt production is just about as good as it gets — changing very little over their 120 years of production on the same spot. The distillery sits on the banks of River Lossie in the Royal Burgh of Elgin — the historic capital of Speyside — and the road into town passes directly through the distillery grounds. Today they are owned by French Spirits company La Martiniquaise and all of the production goes into their range of fine Single Malts.

Glen Moray Classic Single Malt is THE core Spirit upon which the entire line of Single Malts is based. If you are in search of a daily dram to make life a pleasant thing, this needs to be a contender.

This signature Speyside Single Malt is aged for an average of seven years in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks and bottled at 40% ABV. We beg you to take your first sip neat and taste the dram that serves as the foundation of more than a century of tradition.

Smartass Corner:
Throughout its entire history, the Glen Moray Distillery has had only five distillery managers. Each has personally trained their successor, passing on the secrets of the Spirit.

Nose / Aroma / Smell
The aroma is both light and definitively present with floral notes followed by warm roasted nuts, harvest grain on the stalk, and a distant fruit.

Flavor / Taste / Palate
The palate is warm, clean, and a bit dry with notes of walnut-apple salad, lemon zest, toasted oak, and spice cake.

The finish is medium-length with more lemon zest and a note of Christmas cake.

Ratings & Reviews
Smooth and surprisingly good. I liked it. Similar to another favorite of mine, Abelour.
This was a nice warm scotch, finishing with raisins that lingered a long time.
