Founded in 1760
Established in 1761, G&J Distillers has more than 250 years’ experience in Gin production. It all started with a man named Thomas Dakin, who started producing his own Gin at the age of just 25. His family was close friends with the Greenall family, to whom the distillery was leased in 1860.

Brothers Gilbert and John Greenall, who also owned a nearby brewery, eventually bought the distillery outright, renaming Dakin’s Warrington Gin as Greenall’s Gin, but keeping Dakin’s original recipe.

Sadly, a large fire in 2005 destroyed much of the distillery, taking with it a number of the original recipes, so it is not known what stills or botanical infusion method Dakin used in his Gins. However, the stills were saved and production stopped for less than a week.

In 2008, the distillery moved to a nearby site. Today, G&J Distillers produces a number of branded Spirits, as well as supermarket own label solutions.

What does G&J Distillers taste like?

The Flavour Spiral™ shows the most common flavours that you'll taste in G&J Distillers Gin. It's based on all G&J Distillers drinks in our large database and gives you a chance to taste G&J Distillers before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavour Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.
