An Every day sipper of Hold it for a special occasion. Always smooth for 105 proof. Love the dried fruits, toffee/carmel flavors. Will order again and again.

Smooth finish even though it has some heat at 105 proof

A great whiskey that has spice at the front and ends with coffee and Carmel.

Stuart
Stuart,
I liked this one, pretty smooth and fun to drink, too smooth to be mixed.

MIGUEL
MIGUEL,
Great sipper, I get warm spicy notes along with sweet dark stone fruits, vanilla and toffee. The oak comes through on the finish. I would've given a 9, though I believe OF 1920 is a bit more complex and that was a 9 IMO.
Jesse
Jesse,
I agree! 1920 has a layer of chocolate but similar taste. Theyre my two favorite.
Charlie
Charlie,
I couldn’t figure this one out. Didn’t love didn’t hate it. Would taste it once and get all spice then taste it again and get cherries and oranges. Abrupt drop of off the palate. Probably wouldn’t buy again but bumped to a 7 cuz it is interesting

Michael
Michael,
Really tasty stuff!

Robert
Robert,
Lovely smooth with a great finish

Brady
Brady,
Another solid Four Roses release. Sweetness up front then a big bite follows, classic oak notes. Worth a try!

Greg
Greg,
It's good, but not great. Definitely hot due to alcohol content, but I expected that. It's got a flavor though that's not quite right to me - very much reminds me of Koval. Not bad to have on hand for the fellow tasters, but not something for me.

Greg
Greg,
Very approachable small batch bourbon, good price and good example. A bit young and overall mild flavored compared to some of the heavy hitters.

Barney
Barney,
Really good. Nice and spicy with some sweet toffee. Tiny hint of aniseed.

Zachary
Zachary,
Mellow honey and oak aromas like an antique chest. Bright, clean flavors of juicy peach and honey baked ham. Barrel flavors rise in the finish and linger.

Jackson
Jackson,
I think this is incredible. Great flavors. Way better that the Single Barrel in my opinion

Kevin
Kevin,
Good complex flavor and finish

Shannon
Shannon,
New to the bourbon game, been a beer drinker for a long time. Wanted to change it up a few months back and now I'm hooked on good bourbon. Four Roses small batch is definitely my favorite everyday bourbon. I like it better than the single barrel, but both are great! I'm always looking for smooth and FR small batch has that for me.

Dennis
Dennis,
Once it hits the glass take 3 sniffs and let it sit for a few minutes before you taste. Taste starts off very hot then gives way to a caramel and finishes as toffee and dried peaches and plums when it hits the back of your throat. Watered down it really open up cutting the heat opening up floral notes of lavender. Overall it's just too hot to get a real sense of the true flavors hiding in this glass.

Steve
Steve,
I mean, really lovely notes of nice warm spices and vanilla. Perfect nose, comforting over the tongue and mellow in the back. This doesn’t deserve to be diluted in any way... not even with ice. Probably in my top 5.

William
William,
Enjoyed this bourbon more than the standard 4 roses

Ronald
Ronald,
One of my favorites! Start to finish is so well done! Not too sweet or bitter! Love it!!! Can’t wait to try the 6 year select from them!

Joe
Joe,
Floral fruit, oak chips, and unripe banana nose. Baking spices. Caramel. Better body than the single barrel. Not sure if it's worth the price difference however.

Chris
Chris,
A little stiffer than the Four Roses Small Batch, but a good solid Bourbon.

Michael
Michael,
Great house bourbon for an any day glass of spirits.
Jeffrey
Jeffrey,
Agreed! I'm curious if you've tried the Four Roses Single Barrel and how you would compare it to this one? Personally I find the single barrel a little richer in flavor and prefer it slightly for drinking neat...
Wilfredo
Wilfredo,
Love this bourbon smooth with a light sweetness to it

Kathy
Kathy,
I buy this for my husband it's his absolute favorite. He loves the flavor without the burn!

Charles
Charles,
An all around great Bourbon.

Brian
Brian,
Very drinkable for 104 proof. One of the richest of what I consider a moderately price bourbons. The spice flavor gives way to a nice okay medium to long finish. Definitely one I plan to keep in my bar.

Roby
Roby,
I did not pick up most of the flavor profile. It was about average. The bottle is much nicer than the bourbon. Remove the labels and it’s a lovely vase.

Simply great

Daniel
Daniel,
Lovely at the price. Smooth caramel.

Mike
Mike,
Very smooth and enjoyable. Nice bouquet on the nose. Full of flavor.

Timothy
Timothy,
Thought it started very spicy and strong flavor. Had minimal character through the finish.

Eduardo
Eduardo,
Strong sweet caramel aroma along with vanilla and spices, some red fruits and and chocolate. In mouth strong and sweet, with vanilla traces and long lasting aftertaste 👈

Neil
Neil,
Nice bourbon. The Four Roses Single Barrelis smoother, but if you like a little spice and bite in the beginning, this is a great bourbon to try. It also has a very nice finish.

Brian
Brian,
Wow! Nice bourbon. Sweet on the nose despite the high proof. Sweet with a nice bit of spice that lingered but not overpowering. Well balanced.....nice, long smooth finish. Great sipper.

John
John,
Very nice. Full of flavor, molasses and brown sugar, smooth with a wonderful finish.

Eric
Eric,
Fantastic bourbon. Very smooth for the 104 proof point. Well balanced. Really comes alive with a little water.

Daniel
Daniel,
Not a huge fan of this one.

Matt
Matt,
This bottle is fantastic! Smooth for the proof. Perfect balance of sweet and spicy, can really get the full effect of the NCF, lots of great flavor. The Four Roses small batch is great, but the small batch select is something totally unique and special. If you have a collection, this needs to be part of it.

Stephen
Stephen,
Surprisingly smooth and sweet for 104 proof. Has a great mouth feel and a very nice finish.

Chase
Chase,
I was looking for my first top shelf bourbon to add to the home bar. Reached for this because I love the yellow label. This did not disappoint. All the classic flavors you look for in a bourbon. It had 3 parts to me. A spicy start, mellow middle, and a symphony of flavors on the finish. Classic flavors but complex. Like the description I think this will serve noobs and snobs

Jason
Jason,
Pretty incredible & unique. Smooth and not too sweet w/ a complex finish. Highly recommend!

Jacob
Jacob,
Smooth, full flavor with just enough sweet.

Daniel
Daniel,
I enjoyed Four Roses. It has a rich flavor. Great for relaxing.

Neil

I prefer the single barrel from 4R but this is enjoyable. Bit pricey for quality

Henry
Henry,
Smooth

Palani

A sweet and spicy nose that finishes with that warm woody coat you love in any good bourbon. My go to for days to just settle on the couch and take a break from life.

Adam
Adam,
Great better version of 4R

Derrick
Derrick,
Had a little bite with the higher proof, but a small splash of water definitely smoothed it out. Great flavor and very drinkable.

Smooth and easy to drink

More bite. Not smooth. Reminiscant of jack daniels with a better taste

WESLEY
WESLEY,
This left a lot to be desired. A very drinkable dram, but not nearly as good as the single barrel offerings from Four Roses.

simon
simon,
Beautiful colour and wonderful taste. Very smooth

John
John,
1st, I'll comment that I like it. That said, for its list price, there are other bourbons that I prefer. Seems to lack a richness or depth which might be due to its limited aging. If you can find it for <$50, it would be a value.

Scott
Scott,
It was spicy and strong. A small splash of water definitely opened the flavor up and smoothed it out.

Chris
Chris,
Very nice. Smooth. I’m a beginner, so my descriptions will evolve, but this here is some good bourbon!

Mitchell
Mitchell,
nice choice

Best I have had from this distillery so far

Jacy
Jacy,
One of my favorite daily drinkers for the price.

Jamie
Jamie,
Literally too rosy, tastes like perfume. I'll give it credit for it's namesake, but not enjoyable at all.

Ray
Ray,
Bold spices followed by a sweet vanilla flavor. Overall a very good Bourbon.

Zane
Zane,
Normally I find Four Roses a bit too light for my taste but this stuff is solid. Gets better and better as you work your way through the bottle.

Andrew
Andrew,
Spicey on the front, but as you enjoy the mouthfeel the sweetness comes through. Solid sipper and it’s true a splash of water to you dram mellows and opens the other flavors up.

Brandon
Brandon,
Very pleasant. Best way I can describe this is balanced -- booze, oak, sweetness -- but nothing dominates. I have never been disappointed by this distillery.

RANDY
RANDY,
My new favorite! Super smooth with a warm finish!

Mike
Mike,
Great bourbon that I can actually find and not have to worry about being priced gouged? Finally. I'm amazed social media hasn't ruined Four Roses to. Just a great company. SB, and Sib are great to.

Alexander
Alexander,
One of my favourites. It has a slightly floral scent and tastes mildly sweet and nutty. It works well on the rocks and finished off with a slightly oak taste.

Dick
Dick,
For the money I will stick with the small batch

Beau
Beau,
Very nice, sweet, smooth bourbon.

Keith
Keith,
Exactly what you expect from true bourbon roots. I almost felt like I needed a cigar while sipping, and I don't smoke. Thick and bold in flavor and smoothness. Definitely a top ten in my bourbon cabinet.

Erik
Erik,
Very delicious, but the price is a bit high for what you actually get in the bottle. If you are a Four Roses lover then absolutely give this a chance

Jonathan
Jonathan,
Dried fruit which resembles cherry and chocolate with notes of vanilla and nutmeg, slightly woody. Finish is warming and long. On the banks of the Salt River, nestled in the quiet Kentucky countryside near Lawrenceburg, Four Roses Distillery is a testament to American ingenuity and perseverance. Built in 1910 to resemble the architecture of California wineries, the distillery — now listed on the National Register of Historic Places — was one of six distilleries that were granted permission to operate during Prohibition. Following Prohibition, Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon became the top-selling bourbon in the United States. In 1943, Seagram's bought the distillery and a decade later, discontinued the sale of Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon. In 2002, the distillery changed hands again, and the new owner brought a renewed sense of purpose and vigor to Four Roses. Bottled at a solid at 104 proof, Four Roses Small Batch Select marks the first permanent addition to their portfolio of premium Bourbons since 2006. This extra proof and non-chill filtered Small Batch Select has a richer profile more robust profile than the signature Four Roses. Made from six of the ten: OBSV, OBSK, OBSF, OESV, OESK, OESF, each of the bourbons in this small batch selection are six to seven years old.

James
James,
Best on the rocks.

William
William,
Excellent smooth taste

Bruce
Bruce,
Excellent everyday sipping bourbon! Smooth, sweet with lots of caramel and vanilla.

Aaron
Aaron,
If you enjoy Four Roses Small Batch, this is everything you know and love taken to that next level. Expect the dark fruit and vanilla notes of Small Batch with caramel taking a more prominent seat. And over the elongated finish savor the spicy and woody notes. I was anxious to try this bottle but a little gun shy about the price. That said this is now one of my favorite bottles.

edward
edward,
Love it. Smooth as silk.

Molly
Molly,
Delish!!

Ray
Ray,
Smooth and flavorful. An excellent whiskey. I discovered this in a cocktail at the Swan resort in Orlando called Smoke and Roses. Four Roses, Contreau and a twist of lemon, hickory smoked in a smoke box. Fantastic.

Susan
Susan,
Highly impressed as the spiciness stops just in time for the faint sweet caramel/fruit flavors to tickle the palate without any lasting lingering...just as I like it. This bourbon is one to be shared with friends and visitors alike. Very impressive!

Eric
Eric,
Decent Bourbon. Spicy up front. Vanilla and oak finish.

Robb
Robb,
A quintessential Bourbon. Spicy and flavorful with a long finish but it smooths out with each passing sip. Quality across the boards.

Steve
Steve,
Smooth and flavorful!

John
John,
It grows on you. The spice overpowers some of the complexities but after a glass that levels off.

Sam
Sam,
Wonderful. Light notes of vanilla, candied ginger, with baking spices on the finish. Four Roses is always a great value and this drinks like a more expensive bourbon.

Brett
Brett,
I enjoy over ice

Benjamin
Benjamin,
Full of flavor and an oily mouthfeel. Pleasant and flavorful.

Travis
Travis,
Spices on the front and oaky on the back end. I loved this whiskey. It is strong, but I didn’t find it unbearable. If you like a higher content whiskey this is a fantastic choice.

Mark
Mark,
Sweet dark chocolate and a hint of fruit up front like most Four Roses, but a little more savory on the long finish. Excellent bourbon and I like it a great deal, but I also like the regular small batch almost as much. I will likely stick with that for everyday and go single barrel cask strength for special drams.

Joseph
Joseph,
So good.

Greg
Greg,
Very spicy! Just not my style.

Bruce
Bruce,
Good balances over all bourbon.

Nathan
Nathan,
Cocoa powder, oak and leather. Savory. I really liked this bourbon. I can pour a dram and sip on it all night.

Jackie
Jackie,
Very harsh.

Amber
Amber,
Smooth easy drinker. I loved this neat

John
John,
Really wonderful bourbon. Caramel and vanilla on the nose and immediately on the palate. Get flowers later on the palate. Nice spice on the finish. Flavor profile is more complex than the small batch, but I'm not sure it's worth double the price. Very nice bourbon, but I'd take the small batch, which is aggressively priced for its high quality.

Mike
Mike,
Solid bourbon and probably one of the best four roses I've ever had.

Laura
Laura,
This is, by far, Four Roses best bourbon! The tasting notes of honey, cinnamon, fruity go down nicely with the buttery texture. This is my husband’s new favorite and it’s one we will always have on the bar cart!

Erik
Erik,
This is a nice, smooth bourbon, nice initial effect, with a lingering taste. I enjoyed it very much.

Richard
Richard,
I love Four Roses anyway, and this is my favorite. Baking spices for days on the nose, the taste is rich with cinnamon at the front and vanilla close behind. One of my absolute favorites.

Brian
Brian,
Once you taste this, it might quickly become your favorite Four Roses. Capturing the spices and nuance of single barrel, but blended with the smooth small batch, this bourbon hits all the good things that Rutledge built and now Elliot is moving into the future with.

David
David,
From the amazing color to the honey or cream flavor that hits your tongue. Followed by a balanced spice/smoke. All around a nice sipping flavor straight from the bottle .

Carlos
Carlos,
Truly amazing taste! Robust and tasteful!

Adam
Adam,
Very tasty

Daniel
Daniel,
Too much spice / cinnamon for me to really enjoy. It’s tasty, but overwhelming on the cinnamon. I’d rather have a bottle of Bookers for that price.

guest
guest,
So much cinnamon but a little one dimensional

guest
guest,
Great accessible bourbon that it good cold, neat, or mixed.

Logan
Logan,
The farther I made it down the bottle the more prominent the oak qualities became with the finish but upfront there is a pleasant vanilla and spice that leads into the oak finish. Highly recommend.

guest
guest,
Smooth yet complex notes of honey, tobacco, and vanilla.

darien
darien,
I have yet to find a better tasting whiskey I can drink straight.

Thomas
Thomas,
Very spicy upfront and fades into fruit. By the second glass it was a nice drink. The oak is a nice touch compared to the fruity, short finish of the small batch. It’s not $30 better than the regular small batch. Fine at the right price but I wouldn’t keep it on my bar.

Burton
Burton,
I wish I had a single barrel version on hand to compare with this. I dont. So this will have to stand on its own. Fruit. Floral. Sweet. Not much noticeable barrel influence. Nice product. Well balanced and enjoyable.

Paige
Paige,
One of the best bourbons I’ve had recently. The nose is clear-cut traditional bourbon bites of vanilla, caramel, and cherries. The palate is pleasantly filled with oak, spice, brown sugar and sweet floral notes to a nice long cinnamon finish. Do yourself a favor a buy a bottle, or two!

Michael
Michael,
Very smooth with just the right balance of spice and oaky sweetness flavors. Complex aroma that has a hint of fruity essence. Enjoy both neat and a hint of water.

Aaron
Aaron,
Sweet and spicy but so smooth

Creston
Creston,
Great taste and very smooth for the 104 proof.

Billy
Billy,
Great taste, I'm hooked.

Nicholas
Nicholas,
This is going to be hard to beat for a smooth sipping drink. Introduced my wife to Small batch bourbons and whiskies only to find out she “doesn’t like the hard stuff” and she hasn’t had the need to try others after Four Roses Small Batch hit her lips. This is now out “go to” and she’s always asking me keep it stocked. I would say that for the more distinguished connoisseur this is a premium dram. Can’t wait to visit the distillery this November!

guest
guest,
First whiskey, goes down with a small burn but has the greatest flavor and finish.

Michael
Michael,
I keep going back to this, smooth with some pepper but not too much. It's mainstream bourbon, but just a little (little) "different" almost in an earthy way. Words fail me. I don't salivate for it while headed to the cabinet like some others, but I'll pick it almost every time anyway. I guess I'm trying to say that it's not a nectar of the whiskey muses but, well, yeah it is in its own way. I know... completely unusable review but that's my story (and I'm stickin' to it).

John
John,
I’m a Four Roses everything fan but this one wasn’t for me. A bit sterile and astringent tasting. Disappointed to say the least.

Justin
Justin,
This is a very smooth whiskey with a lot of flavor. Currently my #2

Matthew
Matthew,
Top shelf.

Tim
Tim,
I loved it. Very smooth from the first sip with a nice bold finish. Will be purchasing again!

Michael
Michael,
Great addition to the Four Roses line up. Definitely like the higher proof with it being non-chill filtered. I put this one up there with the Single Barrel. Thank you Flaviar with offering this product as it is not yet available in my State.

Sam
Sam,
Very good bourbon...even better when you add a touch of water

Bret
Bret,
Good sweet, vanilla caramel start with a nice long oaky, cinnamon finish. Hints of spice in between. One of the better 4 roses I have tasted.

Jeff
Jeff,
Favorite everyday bourbon.

Connor
Connor,
I dont usually like four roses but this was great. Totally worth the money and i dont say that 0ften.

Nick
Nick,
Much better than anticipated. Good balance of fruitiness and spice. Good mouthfeel and a finish that last longer than plenty of more expensive bottles... this is right up there with some of my favorite SiB offerings from 4R

Richard
Richard,
Instantly jumps to the top of my favorite bourbons. Baking spices on the nose, tiny hint of oak in the back. Flavor coats the tongue: cinnamon, tangy fruit and wood. Pleasantly lingers a while.
