Forty Creek

The core product of Forty Creek Distillery is their Barrel Select Whisky. It is a blend of rye, barley, and corn spirits that are distilled and aged separately in white oak aging casks, for between six and ten years.

The barrels that get used are then carefully selected by hand, for richness and depth and carefully married. This attention to detail has resulted in a string of Gold Medals — at least twelve of them at last count.

But it is the flavor that matters most. And “richness” is the differentiator with Forty Creek. It does not have bright flavors or fruity flavors, but it does have a thickness and richness that puts it at the top of its category in our opinion. Look for aromas of banana and cream, and flavors of walnut and mocha.

John Hall was named "Pioneer of the Year" in 2007 by Malt Advocate Magazine, namely due to his contribution to "new lines of thought and new methods in the world of Whisky."

Forty Creek Distillery was founded by John K. Hall in 1992. John was a first-generation distiller, and he founded the company as a subsidiary of his Kittling Ridge Wine and Spirits company.

The facility is located in Grimsby, Ontario — which lays between Niagara Falls and the town of Hamilton, Ontario.

The Whiskies quickly gained notoriety and became some of the most awarded Whiskies produced in Canada, due to consistent high quality.

This got the attention of some of the larger companies in the business and they were eventually acquired by Campari in 2014.
