Madre Mezcal is made by a family of mezcaleros just outside San Dionisio, the ancient Oaxacan town surrounded by clean air and water. The whole Morales family works together day in, day out, to create this handmade Mezcal, based on traditional Zapotec recipes and methods.
The Madre recipe brings softer, lighter smoke and sweet botanical notes. It’s made with Agave Espadin and Agave Cuishe that Jose Garcia Morales and his family roast in an earthen pit and use wild yeast for fermentation. Distilled in the family’s ancient copper still, the final result is full of lovely agave flavors and aromas, supported by warm and peppery notes.
