So, we’re doing Whisk(e)y today but we’re not going to the usual ruling kingdoms of Scotland and Kentucky. Instead, we’re visiting their fun new neighbors in the wonderful lands of Asia and Oceania.
There’s three tasty stops: Taiwan, India and Australia all bring their special characters born in specific traditions and cultures.
Taiwan is one of the youngest Whisky makers but their speedy aging of Spirits that’s due to its favorable climate and finishing skills is already taking Taiwanese Whisky to the top. We present to you Kavalan (40% ABV), a unique subtropical wonder that caused a mania among Whisky lovers.
From colorful India — did you know they’re a champion of Whisky consumption — you’ll be tasting a phenomenal surprise in the form of Rampur (43%). This one is extravagant with tropical aromas that come from the foothills of the Himalayas.
And last but not least, the wildly varied climate of Melbourne is where Starward Nova (41% ABV) spends its maturation time only in red wine casks. The insane climate speeds up the process in "Melbourne years." Kind of like dog years vs. human years but you know for Whisky. The result is a unique and savory Spirit.
