Alembic still and New French Oak influenza.

Bodegas Rey Fernando de Castilla winery was started by the Andrada-Vanderwilde family in the historic centre of Jerez. They entered the Brandy market in 1972 with their brand Fernando de Castilla, aiming to produce the best Brandy in Spain. Their brandies are made using alambic destillates of selected white Wines only. In 1999 the distillery was revitalised by the Norwegian Jan Petterson, with whose help the brand achieved a much higher positioning in the market.

Fernando De Castilla Solera Gran Reserva Brandy is aged for 15 years on average through the traditional solera system with alembic destillates, at first in new barrels of French oak – which is unnusual for a Brandy de Jerez – and later in barrels that previously held old Oloroso and Amontillado Sherry.

Brandies can help digestion, so they are perfect after meals. They were and are still are considered medicine.
Nevertheless, the best Brandies are required to preserve the concentrated flavor of the used fruit.
Brandies can help digestion, so they are perfect after meals. They were and are still considered medicine. Basically, any fruit that can be fermented can be distilled and turned into Brandy.
Brandy was invented in the 16th century by a sneaky Dutch merchant who learned how to remove water from Wine and save cargo space. He then added water again and called it “Bradwijn”, which means “burned wine”.
