A special single cask of Elijah Craig’s classic Small Batch Bourbon chosen by The Flaviar Community.

Heaven Hill Distillers is unique. They are one of the oldest and largest Bourbon distillers in the world, they have the second largest standing inventory of aging Bourbon, and they have grown to become the seventh largest supplier of Spirits in the US. BUT… they are still family owned. In fact, they are the only family-owned production house left in Kentucky. The Spirit brands owned and controlled by Heaven Hill includes Evan Williams, Elijah Craig, and their namesake Heaven Hill, and many dozens more.

Elijah Craig Small Batch is THE favorite Bourbon of millions of Whiskey fans around the world. It is delicious and has won dozens of awards, including being named "Best Bourbon"… twice. So it was not surprising that this delectable dram is the choice of the Flaviar Community for a special barrel edition.

Elijah Craig Small Batch Single Barrel Flaviar Member Select spent a full decade in #3 char white oak and is made from the same classic mash bill of 78% corn, 10% rye, and 12% malted barley. But being a single cask, there are a strictly limited number of bottles. Conduct yourselves accordingly.

Pinhooking means purchasing and rearing a foal based on its pedigree and either selling it or turning it into a champ racing horse. The same idea is behind Pinhook Bourbon: they source young Whiskey to mature and blend it into a blue-ribbon sipping Bourbon.

Bourbon only needs to be placed in a new oak container for a few seconds to be called Bourbon. Fresh from the still and unaged Bourbon is called a White Dog. Recently, many of the larger distillers have started packaging this harsh, clear grain spirit for sale.
Bourbon matures quicker than Scotch due to higher temperatures in American warehouses.
At any given time, there are more barrels of Bourbon in Kentucky than there are people. The population of the Bluegrass State is about 4.4 million. Today there are more than 5 million barrels of Bourbon sitting in the rick-houses of that Old Kentucky Home. That’s nearly 300 bottles of Bourbon per person, or about 60 gallons each.
Bourbons have very prominent notes of vanilla, as American White Oak is naturally high in vanillins.
Heaven Hill is a well respected distillery, even amongst their competitors. After the fire of 1996, the local major distilleries Jim Beam and Brown Forman shared their stills with Heaven Hill while they rebuilt.
