Dos Maderas is produced by the Spanish winery Bodegas Williams & Humbert. It was founded in 1877 by Sir Alexander Williams, a Sherry connoisseur, and Arthur Humbert, an international relations specialist. Located in the geographical triangle formed by the Spanish cities of Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, the winery enjoys a unique microclimate for wine production – which is especially important if you own Europe's largest wine cellar. Innovation in the last decade brought them to the production of Rum.
Dos Maderas 5 + 3, a double aged Rum, originates from aged Rum stocks of Barbados and Guyana. It is aged in two steps. First for 5 years in the Carribbean in American oak casks, and then finished for 3 years in the Spanish facilities of Bodegas Williams & Humbert in their Sherry casks which previously held "Dos Cortados" Palo Cortado Sherry. This is a very unique process for Rum production, which brings a new taste profile, a "Sherried Rum".

Appearance / Color
Dark amber.
Smell / Nose / Aroma
Sweet, caramel, Sherry. Notes of vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and roasted fruit.
Flavor / Taste / Palate
Fruit filled Rum, with a slightly sweet sherry entry, powerful, smooth and a tad spicy. Then caramel, chocolate, tobacco, leather and honey in the midpoint.
Finish
Long, smooth finish, with notes of Pedro Ximénez Sherry cask, liquorice, caramel and nuts.
