Whisky may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Switzerland, but the Swiss love their Whisky. There are about 20 distilleries in Switzerland. Swiss Whisky production only became legal in in 1999, making it a pretty new industry for the country.
But let’s be clear, the industry’s youth does not equal inferior product. The Swiss are known for doing things well, and the same goes for their whiskies. Even the Scots admit the Swiss are pretty damn good at it. Not too shabby huh? And upholding the Scottish tradition, their Whiskies must rest at least three years in the barrel before being called Whisky.
