A rare fourteen-year-old Guyana Rum distilled in wood… really.
Established in 1842, Cadenhead is Scotland’s oldest independent bottler. Their two shops in London and Edinburgh are veritable shrines to the art and science of Whisky and spirits. For their own line of Spirits they purchase a cask or two at a time from the best distilleries. What matters to them is that they find something unique or special that is in too limited a supply for those distilleries to effectively market. Otherwise, these odd-lot casks of heavenly Spirit would be destined to be sloshed into large vats of various blends — and that’s no good, right?
The Diamond Distillery is the only distillery left int he world that we know of that uses pots stills made from local “greenheart” wood — native to Guyana. Not only does this rare and unique wood impart a flavor to the Spirit, but the constant reuse adds complex notes from each batch to the ones that come after it. Well, Cadenhead got their hands on a production run of this rare Rum aged a full fourteen years. Meet Diamond Distillery Rum 14 Year By Cadenhead.
