Devil’s River releases their first, award-winning Rye Whiskey.

Devil’s River Whiskey launched their first product — a 90-proof Bourbon — in 2017 using sourced Spirits. President and co-founder Mike Cameron has been driving this upstart Texas-based Spirits company toward nationwide distribution and the opening of their own San Antonio distillery in Q4 of 2019. And they have managed to win a few awards along the way. If the Spirits industry had a "Who to Watch" list, these guys would be on it.

Rye Whiskey is the hottest segment of the market these days. A lot of that popularity comes from the surge of craft cocktail recipes and bespoke bartending. But Rye Whiskey is not so much a "thing" as a range of flavor profiles that lean on important decisions made by the distiller.

Award-winning Devils River Rye Whiskey starts with a mash bill of 51% rye, 45% corn, and 4% malted barley. That relatively mild rye content means that this sipper is going to be spicier than a Bourbon, but still sweet and drinkable neat. And the near perfect 45% ABV means that you’ll have a full dose of flavor.

SmartAss Corner:
Devil’s River Whiskey takes its name from a limestone spring-fed river system that empties into a reservoir on the Rio Grande about 200 miles west of San Antonio where it gets its water.

What does Devils River Rye Whiskey taste like?

The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in Devils River Rye Whiskey and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Ratings & Reviews
Smooth maple and fruit combines with a slight touch of cinnamon and spice to make a rye that can’t be beat for the price.
Pretty solid all around. Great warmth throughout with a mild spiciness.
Had a little heat, but not bad for the price. Would buy again.
Not as exciting as I thought it would be considering how awesome the Bourbon is. I have other Ryes that I enjoy more.
Terrible- don’t know if I simply received a bad bottle. No real taste, just “musty.” Couldn’t even use it in mixed drinks
Love the maple and fruit notes. I originally bought it strictly for mixing, but it is surprisingly smooth
Full bodied but smooth Rye. Nice caramel notes. Very good value for the price.
