Top reviews for Deer, Bear & Moose Inchmurrin 1998:

— Three words...oh hell yeah! Smoky, sophisticated taste. Great with a strong cigar or pipe. Spicy, but not too much so. Plus its 21 years old...cool!

— Fantastic stuff, and obviously very exclusive. Very approachable and round, would be a general crowd-pleaser but I won’t be sharing it too often. Nose - light and sweet, melted chocolate, almonds and roasted nuts, a bit of fresh berries and a hint of scotch muskiness Taste - sweet fruit forward, with some soft almond flavors, a bit of milk chocolate, and some light bitterness Finish - the oily sweetness lingers followed by a bit of spice and a comforting burn

— Incredible! Smooth would be an understatement. Silky sweet, with a follow of nuttiness. This is an absolute pleasure to drink. I wish I could get more!

Kyle
Kyle,
Smooth and delicious. Very subtle smoke, slight sweet notes, surprising color. Very enjoyable. Regret nothing!

It tasted like Anesthesia

Rich
Rich,
I can't say that I am all that impressed with this purchase. I jumped at the chance for a 20+ year old but agree with Gary and Sean that Flaviar should keep this one in the vault or pour it out. Very disappointed with all that money down the drain.

Robert
Robert,
Needed to correct the star rating. It gave itself 10/10. Nope.

Robert
Robert,
Others have expressed flavor nuances that I just don't get. The color is very pale amber, more like that of a Highland. I get strong hints of pear on the nose, which is nice. On the palate it is refined and well-rounded for an expression this high in proof, but it lacks complexity. I don't get any peat or smoke at all; other reviewers did, so I tried it again and I wonder if I have the same scotch they do. Most of what comes through is oak. The finish is long, owing the the alcohol, but as one might expect for a scotch this light in color there are few of the flavor nuances on the finish that I'd hoped for. Frankly it seemed like they just aged it in virgin oak casks and that's it. Reminded me of Macallan Fine Oak without the depth. I will have to try it with ice, water, etc. to see if it opens up but for the moment, I think one can get an ordinary Speyside or Highland that offers the same experience for a lot less money.

Dat
Dat,
Slight smoke and a hint of rancio (nutty) towards the end. Very nice! I noticed that the flavor profile becomes more complex about 1 week after initial un-corking. Perhaps the oxidation enhanced the spirit. Keep up to good works, guys! Can't wait to try another DBM.

Gary
Gary,
I really had high hopes for this one, but the taste just was not there for me and not very smooth at all. For the money I spent, it doesn’t live up to its name.

Sean
Sean,
Meh. Not a strong tasting scotch. Definitely needed ice to bring out the flavor. I would not recommend it.

Paulo
Paulo,
Nice complex nose with a bit of smoke, fruit, chocolate and almonds, the palate is spicy but smooth at the same time and the finish is long and very interesting. These are my first impressions having just received my bottle and poured 0.5 fl oz to try. Some time in the glass opened it up massively and some oxidation will certainly improve it so fully expect it to get better as it breathes a little. Beat my expectations.

Ray,
This is my new gold-standard for scotch. Smokey nose, bright, fresh palate, with a long, rich finish. Tastes like a rainy day in spring.
