Really smooth and sweet honey. Vanilla with some apple for a crisp start. Some light fruit on the nose. Clean end with little to no spice. A really nice dram.
Smooth. Vanilla and honey. Easy to drink for beginners while still having some variation in flavors
Strong honey smell with some mild vanilla / caramel and apple freshness note on the nose. Honey and vanilla taste with a mild walnut note towards the end in the gentle palate. Unfortunately not able to spot any smokiness.
Slight smoke or peat with mostly vanilla and honey. Doesn’t last long on the pallet but is surprisingly enjoyable.
The safe bet. This one tastes good anytime. If you want a scotch but aren't sure what you are in the mood for, you can't go wrong with this dram. Like a light beer on a hot day, this one satisfies. Light honey and vanilla flavors.
Gentle and silky. The Honey and Vanilla come out on the palate. Just lovely but not too complex.
smooth as a scotch but not for everyone.
Been a Christmas present from my Wife many times. Always a treat
A tasty dram of sweet honey with a light smoke. Easy to drink and well balanced from nose to finish. Unfortunately it is chill filtered which is always disappointing. Advise against adding water; delicious as is
A solid well balanced well-aged whiskey with nicely aged components showing through, good balance, and good integration.
Hard to imagine a smoother drinking scotch. Love the honey that warms to the end.
Great whiskey with a hint of honey at the end. Would definitely recommend!
A near-perfect balance of peat and honey.
smooth, sweet and smoke
Very drinkable, go to everyday scotch
This is a really nice Scotch. Definitely in my top 3 favorites. Very, very smooth. Goes down easily. My palate generally is drawn to peatier, smokier single-malts but there is something about this that is very appealing to my taste buds. I'll definitely be buying this regularly.
Amazing smoky vanilla taste
Strong buy again. Lovely and smooth.
Good balance of sweetness, , malt, and smoke.
A bit too sweet to my liking but lovely nonetheless, quite Smokey but nice.
One of the smokiest of the smokies. Tastes like your hair smells during the first shower after a beach bonfire. But in a good way, I promise. One of the few Scotches I drink neat, at room temp, from a snifter.
Nice smooth flavor. A big simple on the palate.
Really delicious. Great balance of sweetness, earthiness, malt, and smoke
This was a quite usual Scotch. There was not anything special in it.
Pretty decent Irish whisky, not too overpowering and quite balanced.
Sweet with just a little bite
Smooth and not too smoke with a sweet note.
Nice and smooth, either neat or with a dash of water....can certainly get the taste of citrus and honey to start, and the end is pleasantly intense.
Great Scotch. UPS only average on delivery.
Great tasting whiskey for the price.
Citrus dominated the nose. Vanilla and honey were noticeable and achieved a nice balance. The smoke notes are very gentle, perhaps a bit too gentle for my tastes.
All in all, a great bottle at an amazing price- I paid about $55 for it.
Good on the rocks, pretty good price for a 15 year old
This is a excellent whiskey. You can taste sweet and smooth honey, little bit of apple and vanilla. Finishing is long, I can taste apple and little bit of smokiness. And I have to say, this price is low if you can get whiskey good as this.
New för me and very Good!
Enjoyed the use of smoke and citrus.
The absolutely best Scotch I have ever tasted.
A very smooth, simple and clean highland whisky showing clear notes of baked apples, vanilla and honey. It is very aromatic and hardly perceived any trace of alcohol that might alter the aroma. Probably one of the best whiskies to start for beginners and to get into knowing highland whiskies
Nice flavor. Very smooth but also complex.
It’s pleasant, mild scotch that provides an equal balance of sweet and smoke.
When I think of scotch, I think of the heart of Scotland, and this is the heart! Love everything about it.
Solid, smooth, but unspectacular.
This is one of my favorite Scotch's. Yes it is on the light side but for my taste it is the perfect balanced Scotch. It has enough peat to give that distinctive scotch flavor but not over powering.
Spot on. A good well balanced all rounder.
Very smooth, nice kick
Light and refreshing Scotch. Perfect for a hot summer day.
Yes it was spectacular, and had light notes of citeus
Spicy, sweet, woody and smooth. A very good blend.
Saftig süße, aber trotzdem stechende Nase, volles angenehmes Mundgefühl mit langem Nachbrand. Gut, kann man wieder trinken
06/20 Pierer Teichalm
A very good Highland
Received a taster of this in the welcome box and was my second favourite of the three. Like the glenkinchie 12yrs, my third best in the box, very smooth but with more character and spice as well as a slightly smoky finish. A solid all around whisky!!
I love It’s smoothness!
Smooth, sweet, fruity, lightly smoked... It's my favorite by far, especially at this price point.
This Scotch is my favorite by far. It beats everything under $135.00 per bottle. I believe your selection and delivery is the best.
Light and smooth. Excellent choice for noobs and learners
Its a okay whisky but i perfer a more smoky whisky.. But this whisky is really smooth that i like.. But overall i think the price is to high consitered the flavor
Good, but not a standout!
Very good. Hit the spot.
I loved it! A nice smooth smokey taste with a nice leather finish.
This is a great whiskey, price comes into play here but it is still excellent, tons of flavor and a soft finish, not overly aggressive, a s east to drink should definitely be in your liquor cabinet.
lovely butterscotch like flavors
Very likable. Like others have noted, I prefer heavier flavors but this still has enough layers. Also, although it’s quite gentle, it lingers a bit longer than you’d expect. All in all I would be happy to buy it but there are other amazing bottles out there for the $70 range.
The first scotch I ever tasted and still my favorite. Tastes smooth and floral for me but not overpowering.
Loved. Very easy for non scotch drinkers. Good beginner for bourbon enthusiasts looking to push into fine Scotch.
Sweet, smooth, fine finish.
Very light and sweet. Definitely get the apple/peels on the nose but none of the other flavors are able to shine through the sweetness. Finishes with char. Very drinkable, even if it is maybe too sweet.
Thought it was nice but a little bland.
It's ok but nothing remarkable
Great tasting dram. honey and smoke with the smoke mellowing on the finish. Looks to drying up here in Ne.
honey and vanilla nose, nice subtle smokey fire finsih
Super scotch! Light and refreshing with fruity notes.
Sweet, smooth, gentle. Personally prefer something heavier but definitely a pleasant drink
Apple peel, honey, smokey, floral, walnuts, spicy, caramel, vanilla, fire
Sweet, honey, small fruits and smooth throughout. One of the most drinkable scotches and a good way to get introduced to the scotch game. Lovely dram
Appealing nose, pretty full taste, long tasteful rich finish.. Seems like a perfect gateway whisky! Careful or you'll start to like it. One to keep in mind once I start dealin'
Structured and balanced fruit, honey, touches of smoke, great, really enjoyable. But still light and easy drinking.
My favorite "go to" Scotch
It's light, sweet, and very tasty. Not overly complex but an easy sipper.
Nose - honey, red apple, sweet cream, a little bitterness from oak.
Taste - caramel, honey, faint floral notes, a very mild green chili spice at the end.
Finish - some sweet honey that fades quickly, leaving behind a lingering chili spice.
This had a very unique taste to it. Very smooth, no burn.
Nice enough I could see drinking during a casual day at the golf course. Would be a nice yet safe bet to buy as a business gift. Love the exclusivity of the story.
I read the reviews and it’s not as smooth as I had hoped. It’s good and I get the flavor profiles - especially the honey and the floral notes - but not my go to.
Smoke. Floral. Malts spice. Nice finish
My wife loves this one. Lots of caramel and super smooth, with a good amount of vanilla. Can really taste the flavours without a strong, overpowering alcohol burn.
Great for the price point. Clean and simple, but satisfying.
Sweet, tart with a gentle finish.
Clean, some smoke, pleasant finish
Smooth. Honey. Bit of walnut. Very good.
Smooth. Wife even liked it.
A little bit shallow in taste, does not have character
Smooth and sweet. A small drop of water went a long way in opening it up. I would definitely recommend to a group of friends who are just starting out.
Very smooth, with a sweet honey note. Loved it! Great to drink with friends.
Loved it! The golden color is rich and I appreciate the honey flavor note.
Really good. Just the right amount of flavour.
Smooth and tasty. Lots of honey and apples.
Smooth and balanced entry level whisky. Good base for comparison.
Smooth and tasty. Great straight or on ice.
On the nose- Lots of fruit, red Apple, green Apple, peat, Honey, fig, vanilla, A blooming Meadow, lemon and a very light spice
Palate- Caramel creaminess, vanilla, yellow raisins, pear, Blood Orange, in a slightly sweet malt. Emagine a bowl of apples with honey drizzled on the top and a handful of crushed up walnuts.
Conclusion- Very pretty, and easy sipper with a short to medium finish.
The honey note is too prominent for my liking
Spicy with a sweet finish
A nice floral nose with hints of vanilla and honey. The taste is a little spicy and hot with citrus and bread on the back end. A splash of water lights the heat and opens more sweet and citrus notes. Overall a very pleasant dram.
Very strong and complex flavor. More enjoyable as you get used to it. Wishing it was more than a sample to have a better understanding of my insight.
Great taste. Gets better as you sip.
Sweet and smoky. Very good neat. Faint apple taste
It is an outstanding, intense, Single Malt Whisky that has a dry & crisp birth; while a rich & delicate life leads to a long & spicy finish with notes of vanilla, apple, walnut, almond, smoke malt & cinnamon.
It took me more than a couple of sips to realize that I like this. The honey and apple peels are present but the finish is what takes some time to determine whether it is good or not. My final determination is that I like the scotch. I will buy another bottle some day.
This is officially my new favorite. I’ve only been really exploring whiskey for about 4 months now, but this is the first one that MADE me keep sipping. A lot of layers and different things to discover! I will be making this a regular in my home.
I like it okay when I take a first sip, but the lingering sweetness is too much for me. Too sweet and sticks around too long. Husband likes it better. Says he wouldn't mind having a bottle, although it isn't his first choice.
Thoroughly enjoyed the scotch. Very smooth. Nice touch of peat on the finish.
we love it I like the vanilla and cinnamon I can taste.it pairs well with chocolate.
Strong aromas of apple and honey. Very good flavor. You can really taste the honey and it has a slight smoky flavor to it. It’s a little sweet and has a slight spice on the finish. I really enjoyed it.
Smooth, honey flavors.
Smooth and sweet. Honey and smoke really pop, melting into fruits, then into a lingering floral.
Smooth and flavorful with just enough smoke
Pretty good Highland Scotch. Not a huge fan, but not a waste of money.
Just a bit more bite than what I thought it would have for a 15-year-old. Has very pleasant and complex aromas. I do thoroughly enjoy the flavor and the finish of the scotch. To me, it has a nice balance between smoky and Peet.
delightfully smooth with a really complex set of flavors, honey, apple, caramel, etc. I really don't care for smoke... but I think if I did this would be a go to. The smoke is light and not over powering.(just not my thing). However as I move through this bottle I find myself really intrigued by the other flavors as they present themselves...
Apple smell. The burn is a little harsh for a 15 year old.
I expected better from a 15 year old. Just okay
Great dipper smooth.
My go to single malt is the Dalwhinnie 15. Love it neat, or with a single large ice cube, though it is almost a shame to dilute it. The nice notes of smokey honey and vanilla seem to increase as the ice melts. A scotch for even those who think they don't like scotch.
Gentle smoke. Easy sipper
A wery good dram!
This is a whisky I learned to like at a pub in Glenrothes together with a friend of mine tjat at the time was the Purshasing Manager at the Tullis Russel papermill. This is some good stuff! The first one of the day (or evening, if you go for the more traditionally acceptable, I poor about 1/5 with pure luke warm still water. Heavenly!
Wonderful smell of apples and honey. A slight smoke on the tastebuds. A fire burn. A really nice drink.
Great despite I don't like Highlands much. Light rich and smooth. I guess it is a must have in home bar
My favorite of the welcome pack, it was surprisingly light and drinkable for a scotch. Can easily see as a go to.
Smooth, but rather short in taste.
Light and refreshing
Strong, but bright, with green Apple notes, vanilla and spice. Enjoyable for a different not so “bass note heavy” scotch.
Really nice aroma and taste. A solid choice for any occasion.
Nice and mellow
Very good scotch. Light and honey/citrus taste. Would buy a bottle
no note able tastes
Slight Smokey, mild flavor.
Very very good
Next up in the Whiskies With Names I Can't Pronounce Collection is the Dalwhinnie 15 Year. This Highland single malt Scotch whisky is the second of three samples I received in a tasting box. The first sample didn't scare me away, so on I shall go. I have not increased my Scotch knowledge since the last sample, so this review will be ideal for other Scotch virgins. I'm sampling this as a neat pour.
The nose is very enjoyable. Sweet with aromas of tropical fruits, honey, and mint there is basically no alcohol smell and I am eager to find out if it tastes as good as it smells. The sip is light and dry with a bit of honey sweetness carrying over from the nose, but not a lot of other flavors are present. There is a slight black pepper spice and a hint of smokiness on the way down. The palate is not as good as the nose and a bit of a disappointment. There is virtually no finish to speak of. The drink is smooth and easy to drink, but does not pack a flavor punch and is not likely to be something I would buy a bottle of or even choose as a single drink off a menu. I don't know how typical the Dalwhinnie is compared to Scotch generally, so it's possible that this is just not a remarkable label or it could be that Scotch is not my forte. Either way, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to try this one.
Lovely scotch with a pleasant aroma and long, smooth finish. A honey-like finish that coats your throat as you drink it. Very nice neat, water back seemed to dilute it.
A good whiskey that blends a hint of smokiness with marshmallows. A new favorite.
Slightly smoky but smooth with a mild sweetness throughout. Smells of apples and caramel with a bit of wood. Very good.
Perfect balance of sweet and smoky.
At a first smell i thought it was a bit smokey for my taste but it surprised me big times with its smoothness and flavours. Great first taste of my order!
Smooth and rich. Nice woody start with a spicy sweet finish. Only a hint of smoke.
Fresh. The perfect whisky for the warmer seasons
I thought it was rather smooth and tasteful!
One of my absolute favorites.
Lovely tones! This is definitely making its way to my whiskey cabinet
It was suprisingly good.
reach, deep smell and test.
A good drink for beginners too.
Toegankelijk, smaakvol, honing
Surprisingly tasty! I didn’t know what to expect but was very happy with this!
Smooth with nice long taste
Really smooth. Dangerously drinkable.
Vanilla hints make this a delight
Very smooth drink with only a hint of Peat. After the third drink the Scotch comes alive with slit bite but goes down within almost no after taste.
Me and my friend liked this one. Alot of flavor from fruit and vanilla but has a strong warm kick at the end.
First drank like an Irish whiskey until the after taste of smoekyness which brought it right back to a scotch. Very tasty with honey and caramel overtones
Not a favorite, but fun to taste!
Smooth, with a little smoke.
Smooth, subtle and pleasant. On the verge of too subtle. I tried it neat, and also with an ice cube, and where most others improve with ice/water, this one was better neat.
Not my favourite but happy I tried it.
One of the smoothest Scotches I have ever had. Has cream-ie texture all the way through . Would buy a case if I had the money.
Clean, peaty, sharp bite followed by smooth finish.
Fácil y suave de beber, con un gusto dulce y agradable.
Dry and slightly harsh, but not a bad whisky. Would probably not be my first choice but wouldn't say no to it.
How a highland whisky should taste! Sweet, slightly Smokey and fruity
Very gentle peat.... pretty good for having peat in it.
Very good scotch. One of the ones o go to when I want a light kick. Syrup and cake for me. Very light notes but still worth a sit down with it.
I’m not an avid whiskey drinker but this was impressively smooth. Honey, vanilla, and caramel together make for an exceptionally round mouthfeel.
Really enjoyed this. Very smooth with a very nice flavor.
This is an all time go to scotch. Smooth with great body and flavor.
Very tasty, light smoke with smooth honey and caramel notes. Light floral aroma, super nice smell. Didn’t taste the apple peels or citrus per the tasting notes.
Powerful flavor with a nice finish
Like the caramel and nice finish. The more I tasted it the more I liked it.
Nice smells of citrus, vanilla and a light smoke,
Clear sweet taste of citrus and honey, apples and caramel,
Strong finish with malt, peat and a hint of vanilla, a bit short to the finish tho,
Light and easy to drink, but not too interesting.
I love how sweet this Scotch taste!!
Liked it. Smokey
i got this one in my tasting box - me and my dad fell in love with the notes of honey and something like sour apple - thinking of buying a bottle :)
Among my favorite scotches. Well-balanced, neither too sweet nor too smokey. A benchmark scotch.
Surprised by how much I like it. Solid taste, good smoke, and not rough at all.
A little smoky and sweet. Hate the flimsy box but I'm not trying to enjoy the packaging. Great for after dinner.
Like it very much. Classic scotch
Extremely light & smooth with a hint of citrus . Loved this Highland offering..
Very smooth. My favorite Scotch for flavor
I got a very light nose of roast beef and oak. Lightly oiled texture. Hard to believe it's 15 years with such a light yellow color. It begins with a citrus and turning into a honey before lasting into a white pepper. You must take some time between tasting or else it becomes sour-like. It's a good one for the Highland corner of your collection.
Very smooth but light and delicate. Citrus, honey, vanilla notes give it that sweet flavor. I however favor a more bold taste. Although not a bottle i would purchase it is very good choice if you like a more delicate drink.
My second favorite single malt. Not much on the nose but great flavor and easy to enjoy paired with a great steak or cigar.
I hate to say it but this one was a bit disappointing. I ordered a tasting box to get this one specifically and I found it to be rather boring.
I tend to favor bourbon over scotch but Dalwhinnie really seemed to call to me but unfortunately i don’t think I’ll be buying a bottle.
As far as nose I actually picked up smoke maybe a sort of tobacco? Not as heavy as say a Talisker but it was there for me.
Tasting was really what sealed the deal for me, I just wasn’t excited.
I did pick up fruity/zesty notes but it all seemed boring.
Sorry Dalwhinnie.I’m not sorry i tried you but im sorry I won’t be returning any time soon.
Surprisingly delicious on the palate after an almost non-existent nose.
My palate is quite inexperienced but this stuff was a homerun! Paired with a Cuban cigar they played so well together, each accentuating the lovely floral notes that just kept getting more and more pronounced as each went on. Only downside is that I only had the one dram. Will be adding this to the home bar for sure!
A bit too much citrus fruits
Very sweet and fruity with a hint of smoke. Very good but not my favorite.
Not going to put in my liquor cabinet but decent drink.
Very smooth, slightly sweet
Dalwhinnie has long been my favorite single malt. The 15 tear old was exceptionally smooth and even sweeter than my typical Dalwhinnie; the caramel and fruit flavors really shine. Absolutely wonderful!
Sweety caramel notes, a gentle smoke with a hit of vanilla left in the mouth. Would order again in a bar, unlikely to buy a whole bottle.
Very smooth, can really taste the citrus flavours
Really liked this one!
Nice and smooth. A great starter or for someone who Never had a good whisky
Smooth, smoky and sweet, slightly floral. Kk likes it!
Wonderful smells and tastes of apples, sweet with a light peppery, smokey, finish. My wife, who does not like scotch AT ALL, liked this one, so it's definitely a winner in our home, with many future reappearances.
Full of flavor with nice after taste.
Apple and vanilla notes are prominent in a good way - a new highlight from the Higjlands
Smooth and soft spoken, Apple aroma with just a touch of smoke. EASY!
This is a very smooth single malt and finishes nicely.
Never understood the word “butterscotch” until I had this. THEN I got it.
Buttery and smooth. Don’t drink it cold.
I can taste a wild spark of vanilla with citrus added with a touch of creamy flavor. I could enjoy this with a few cubes of ice.
Really smooth, one of the smoothest single malts I've tasted. Also sweet and not at all smoky. I really enjoyed sipping on this one.
Tastes sweet with citrus notes. Quite smooth
I liked this one. It was quite smooth with a slight sweetness at the finish. Nice nose as well.
Very clean and smooth whiskey, strong honey nose with hints of smoke throughout. Well balanced and relaxing.
Smooth! Subtle sweet flavors. Very good on ice (yes blasphemy...)
Delicious taste and nice, lasting finish
Very smooth. My go to drink after a long night at work takes the edge off perfectly.
Very unsuspecting bottle, but wow! Slightly smoky, sweet, and super smooth!
Fresh, light and nice...
Elegant yet not too long lasting
Refreshing smell with honey, vanilla and fruit very noticeable. Unfortunately there wasn't much to distinguish the dram once you took a taste. Relatively smooth but....not much else to say. Smoke flavors mildly finish it off. Meh.
This is really tasty! This highland scotch is amazing! I love the honey notes! Absolutely delicious. One of my go to everyday soothes. Been a fan for years!
7.5 stars but it won’t let me
The fire definitely hits your lips, initially. Thought it had a buttery feel on the tongue. Pretty dang smooth. Good. Just not as complex.
Great flavor, bought a bottle
Solid dram, but it’s rather disappointing for 15 years old. Alcohol sharpness present. If you like the Highland profile of flavors, buy Old Pulteney 12. It’s twice as good and half the price!!!
I definitely smell an apple aroma.. I smell a lot of fruit, actually. Interesting. First sip, the smoke comes out immediately as it hits my tongue. The apple and vanilla notes come in side by side with the light smoke. It ends with a delicate floral note and a hint of citrus and heat. If I wanted to be poetic about this... I'd say it makes me nostalgic of childhood visits to a cider mill in the autumn. The apple, the smoke and slight floral presence... it's a good experience but will not be a bottle purchase for me. I am beginning to think I might not like smoke in my whisky.
Lightly sweet, classic central Highland single malt from the top of Loch Ericht. Light and fruity with heather on the nose.
A standard for non peaty scotch. Well rounded, smooth and very easy to drink
Loved it - smooth!!
A really gentle clean start and a long smooth finish. Definitely one of my favorites
Dalwhinnie was a very smooth scotch, with a hint of spice. A nice smooth beginning, and a touch of fire at the end. One of my favorites to date.
little sweetness with a smokey aftertaste. the aftertaste stays long after drinking, not sure if i liked that.
Dalwhinnie is like sipping a lovely dram while seated in the heather among the mountains. The honey and heather notes keep the bite low in this whisky. It is a smooth yet spicy drink with a friendly burn at the end of the draw. It definitely will accept ice or water to open itself further to the palate.
Nose is quite similar to Auchentoshan 12 which is very nice; it’s bolder and a very little smoky. Great taste, nice, long, intense finish. I must say I like it a lot.
Great with diet coke!! Kiddin people, take it down a notch. I definitely got the honey hints and the caramel for sure. No medicine burn, will order a bottle for my bar this week!
Very smooth and easy due to honey and vanilla
Light, fairly smooth. Nice burn at the end.
Sweet and spicy
Very smooth scotch, by far my favorite as of yet. Very clean and smooth finish
This scotch has many flavors but the fire at the end overpowers them. This is a classic example of a decent scotch that could be a good or a great, but is just a little too harsh to get it there.
This has a very nice nose, and I experienced oak and cherry flavors, along with a nice syrupy texture. It also had no bad aftertaste, which I likely was attuned to because of my experience with Talisker. It still has some very strong(no pun intended) competition with my other whiskey favorites, but it is without a doubt a solid drink
I really enjoyed this scotch. It had a robust, smooth flavor with subtle hints of vanilla, walnut, and honey. Would recommend this as a gateway to scotches for bourbon drinkers.
Smooth smoky, honey and fruit smells. Very delicious, vanilla flavor, mild orange. Sweet aftertaste, mildly sour cherry. Very nice, I would recommend it to everyone.
not bad at all, slight sweet initial with smooth aroma in the tongue, inviting yet it tells u to slow down
A vety nice whisky, which in my opinion grows flavor with a small sip of water. Even I, a true novice when it comes to tasting spirits, can really feel the sweet notes of honey, vanilla and caramel in this one.
Nice, vanilla, honey, caramel, smoke
NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS FROM TASTE TO SMELL ECT, ECT. ENJOYED EVERY DROP
Great, sweet taste and smell. Lighter, more subtle, more drinkable whisky.
It has a good taste. I would say it is very nice in the variety of flavours. I like it.
easy to get used to. sweet and buttery toffey... little burn. good finish
One of my all time favorite scotches!
Rich, fruity, sweet.
I enjoyed the crisp aroma, but noticed more barley than honey or sweetness in the flavor. Pleasant enough, but nothing I would seek out.
Smoky, sweet, strong, smooth. This whisky tries to combine all and does not impress me at all. It’s all one big blend of average tastes which is a shame really.
Smooth, light peaty taste, and good finish.
When I want whisky with hints of flower and leather. This is where I go. Very smooth.
Another class malt with a lovely taste
This one is really smooth and has good flavor. If you'er looking for something to really zap you with heavy boldness then try something else. I found it Very enjoyable!
Comfortable, not hard to enjoy. Nothing special about it..
The peat is missing. This one is for smooth whisky lovers.
Very good, and for the price at Total Wine and More is great deal!
A great choice for highland Scotch. Less crisp and sweet than a lot of other Highlands and more savory and rich. A very complex flavor.
This is a tasty dram, almost pretty would be a good description it comes on quick with light fruity grassy and floral notes that hide a bit of smoke and oak under it. There is an odd taste on the finish I cant identify that I'm not super fond of but it is one of the best single malts I have tried to date
Sweet and nice aroma. Strong initial kick but very sweet sugary almost unusualy honeylike following (at least for such spirit). Not smokey at all and I like that. Pleasent after taste. Good but not perfect. Nice companion for casual evening.
Not a big fan of scotch, some are ok, some not. I really like this one, and will order again.
very subtle peat and smoke, but enough to tell you that this is a scotch. as a newbie to scotch I love this drink.
Bit spicy on tongue
Good aroma, light and sweet. Thought it had a rough, smokey finish.
nice aroma good taste ,i do have enjoyed it en will drink it again
Nice aroma, very light with a nice long aftertaste. I enjoyed it and will drink it again.
One of my all time favourites such a sweet whisky with an aftertaste that reminds me of bonfire night
Light, a little sweet but covered with fruit smell
I really liked this. It was my favorite of the 3 in my welcome box. It is complex and smooth.
Not too smokey or peaty. Still on the sweeter side. Not great but not bad.
There was the slightest whiff of honeysuckle or similar aromatic floral scent on the nose. On the palate I found a very small taste of peat and a continuation of a honeyed undertone. I did not taste a lot on the finish other than the whisky burn. I have owned a bottle of Dalwhinnie 15 in the past, but I don't know that I would buy it again, especially with all of the better options available today.
Agressif dès l'entrée en bouche.
Not for me. Did not care for the burning as it went down my throat. I was under the impression that the older scotch gets the smoother it gets. Not a nice smell or flavor for me.
This bottle was ok nothing to get excited about but good
A very rounded 15 year old scotch with a nice long finish. I liked it very much.
Smooth taste with the hint of Smokey. i had the sample and bought a bottle enough said.
Smooth. There's a touch of sass but it's otherwise quite palatable with finishing on a sweet note.
I really liked this one a little smokey but super smooth
Thanks to my first Tasting Box, I have discovered I'm not a fan of scotch. I liken this one to drinking a charcoal fire even though there were aromas of green apples. Too much smoke and peat.
A nice sweet scotch. Slight smoky peat nose. Light on the palate. Smooth finish. A good starter Scotch whisky. My wife likes it.
Love this with a drop of cola.. The cola makes it taste like pure honey. Very smooth and refine...
I liked the initial aroma. Drank it straight with one cube of ice and it went down very smoothly
Honey, caramel, citrus, smooth. Very enjoyable. Better than the most common high-shelfs.
This one is a firm favourite in the collection, and certainly missed when it's all gone! Smooth and subtle with a reassuring smokiness. Best with a splash of ginger ale and a cube of ice.
No need to add water. Very lite and vanilla
Good honey flavor. Great burn. Smooth. Could linger longer tho
A little sweet for my liking. Very nice flavor, little burn on the back side. My first nose of it reminded me of wine. After resting a bit the honey really jumped out. Not my everyday choice but I'll most likely add a bottle to my collection.
Smooooooooooooooooth... Lacks a distinct flavor. Subtlety is the name of the game here. It's a scotch I could have everyday.
I am a beginner scotch drinker and have tried several different bottle recommendations and samples from Flaviar. Dalwhinnie is a must have. I put in for a bottle of it every time I order from this site.
A sweeter malt with a slight smoky taste and a spicy finish.
Nice and smooth. Not too smokey.
I was actually not a fan of any of the samples in the box, as I am not a huge fan of Scotch in general. I'm sure they are all good, but not liking Scotch, I cannot give a fair review of how good they are.
I actually would have preferred a varied sample box. i.e. one bourbon, one cognac, one tequila, that sort of thing.
The Glenkinchie and Lagavulin were great but the bottle with the Dalwhinnie was broken upon arrival so I didn't get to try it.
did not like the aroma but is tasted good.
This is the single malt that introduced me to the sainted spirit. And one I return to when the opportunity arises. This is, for me is an arm chair in a glass. And like the arm chair, is better without any water poured into it.
Great aroma and very smooth. Drinkable with everything and could drink straight or on the rocks.
Not a big fan, personally found it hard to swallow and not very drinkable.
Was very easy to drink.
Solid but not a top choice
Smooth sipping... pleasant sweetness. The lingering flavor is very smooth.
Slight alcohol burn on the tail
The sweetness stood out for me on this one. Good scotch but probably not one i would go out and buy right away.
I was pretty indifferent about this whiskey. Not something I would say I liked but I didn't hate it either
I could see drinking this is the right setting, but not an every day one for me.
I like it. I'll definitely be buying a bottle at some point. Very smooth, sweet flavor.
Still a Good and Nice Whisky even for The less experienced whisky drinker. Really Nice to taste with chocolate
Smooth. Mellow flavor.
This was the clear winner from my tasting box (and the other guys as well). Smooth, a little bit sweet and a bite at the end. This one will be coming home in a larger bottle soon.
My go to scotch
Amazingly smooth with subtle sweet flavors.....
Very impressive whisky, with a smoky sweetness that gave way to a peppery finish. A splash of water lengthened the finish, but seemed to dull the palate a bit.
very good flavor
Great and easy sipping whisky!
I liked the honey flavor and it was smooth to drink. You get just a little touch of apple at the end too. The history of this scotch is interesting too, looked up more info on line, could be a fun one to visit!
This was an impressive whisky in the welcome box. With a few drops of water, the finish is better appreciated. Good flavor.
Nice smooth taste, tiny bit of spice with a mellow vanilla that rolls across the palate
Medium to sharp aroma with hint of honey
Strong honey flavor with hints of caramel. Finishes with light airy citrus flavor with smallest hint of smoke.
Very strong apple aroma at first, nice kick, and smokey flavor. Not bad, but not mind blowing.
To me it's a nice alternative to your typical whisky but I' don't see me rushing to buy a bottle yet.
Smooth and light. Has a bit of a bite but still refreshing.
Smells of pot-pourri and tastes like Werther's Originals, with an unfortunate lingering finish of bad caramel syrup.
Dalwhinnie was DalWinner of the tasting box. Fruity on the nose and a smooth and sweet taste. I dig it!!!
Smooth and rich tasting
I toured the Dalwhinnie with my family last year. A great tour and experience and the Dalwhinnie remains one of my favorites.
Long lasting finish. Very nice
Smooth and refreshing. Tasting it you can feel sweetness and the interesting aroma. Definitely would belong my collection at home for friends and family.
Smooth and refreshing. Nice citrus and Carmel notes. A little spice. Definitely one I would have in my collection at home for company.
Smells like a campfire with a sweet honey flavor as it hits the tongue. Sweetness gives way to fire and smoke.
I'm new to premium whisky and this is the first proper Scotch I have tried over all not bad just not what I thought scotch would taste like
Very nice Scotch. Nice and smooth with both sweetness and smokiness.
Smooth and complex. I like the honey and smoke. Excited to try with a cigar
Light smokiness, great daily drink!
God and smooth with a nice bite. Not too strong on the peat, very smooth by sip three
Nice and subtle flavors
Nice sipper. Good flavor.
Really smooth with a little bit at the end. But it doesn't linger.
Smooth and nice flavor profile with this.
This is my kind of Scotch, and I'll be adding it to the cottage bar.
Very smooth flavor, especially for a 15 year.
Easy to sip. Like a fine Italian woman.
Nice smell, good taste.
Flavorful, smooth, and sweet. Complex but well balanced. Great scotch for those looking to enjoy with a bourbon lover.
My favorite of the tasting box. Good flavor, not overpowering. Smooth without a ton of fire.
Light taste with a delightful honey finish... almost herbal.
I found this better than expected. Sweet but a hint of smoke, a nice Scotch.
Vey smooth very drinkable, nice straight in a good glass, great nose and follow on sweetness. Didn't need any water and certainly no ice. The sort of dram where a belt her and a bottle and suddenly the bottle is empty and your legs don't work...!
An easy Highland dram to enjoy anytime. A little heat, spice and smoke, barley and vanilla along with a trace of nutmeg... Love it!
Good. Not crazy about the ending nose. Bitter, floral, little smoke. Not bad. I really don't like the aftertaste though. Drink if offered, but probably never buy a bottle.
Light, drinkable, enjoyable.
Good mellow flavor
A bit spicy but still very mellow and easy to drink. A certain boldness stands out and makes this one of my favorites.
A nice sweet dram. I got honey, ice wine, and berries on the nose. I got the same honey note again, also ice cream with berries. I would drink this again
Light and clean, as advertised. Pretty sweet, with honey-like qualities. The sweetness also had a biscuit characteristic as well. Definitely apple and vanilla too.
Straightforward and smooth. I would drink this again, but prefer Dalwhinnie's Distiller's Edition, which is smoother yet more complex.
Not great, not terrible. Still new to the tasting process so rating conservatively until I have a few more samples under my belt.
I've never been impressed with this distillery's offerings, and this is an example why. I'm not saying it's horrible; it's great for introducing people to the world of scotch whisky, but it tastes like the distillery couldn't make up its mind on the flavor profile when creating it, like "I don't want to use a lot of peat, and be a proper highland malt, but I like the lightness of lowland. Oh yeah, I like American and Irish whiskey so I'll add that flavor to the mix by using their barrels. Anyone of them, doesn't matter. But as long as it's smooth." Smoothness is what they got right out of it, but doesn't taste like a true highland to me.
Nice smoky flavor in the taste, while the apple pops out in the finish. An interesting new experience for me, being a mostly Kentucky Bourbon guy.
This was my fave out of the three. It had a sweet initial taste to the lips with the nice warm sensation afterwards. Could sip on this for days!
Very tasty. Definitely is smooth with little after taste
Nice. Smooth and gentle. Sweet.
This is a good introductory bottle of scotch. Flavor and burn are mild and smooth.
Honey in your glass.
never really drank scotch whiskey.....after tasting this i think ill have to buy me a bottle, loved the smoothness
Out of the samples.. I loved this and will be buying bottle soon
Sweet and smooth!
Very smooth, slightly smoky.
Not huge into highlands. Not as sweet as most I've tried so wasn't disappointed. Recommend an ice ball for a better flavor. Would not buy but would partake again.
Starts off almost creamy, but it thins out to a peppery finish. A drop of water blooms the other flavors quite nicely.
Smooth and subtle flavor.
This is good. Very smooth and mild. Not spicy at all. More apple and leather.
Wow, This is my new goto.. Big citrus, Apple and nutty flavor mix. Its great with a few drops of water or a small ice cube to help release the big flavors. So smooth with a clean finish.
Such a smooth flavor, a new fave
Sweet with peppery finish. Smooth start for easy drinking.
I've been a big fan of Whisky for years now but the Dalwhinnie was the first I've had with an obvious vanilla flavor. Also the transition from the sweet start the the malty finish was great. I'm definitely going to buy this bottle.
Again not a Scotch drinker, I found this rather pleasing not too peaty and smoky, with a sweet after burn. This I would carry for my Scotch loving friends.
I loved the Dalwhinnie 15 yr old. It was very smooth, not overly smoky but just the right balance. Great balance!
7 because its pleasant and drinkable. Id buy it.
Super smooth and great peat balance.
Rich flavor, and decent finish. It's a bit harsh but not bad at all. Would buy in the future.
Very smooth, nice finish.
Malty sweet with a little smoke in the finish. Really like this one. Definitely one for my bar.
Smooth, rich, sweet and easy sipping.
Smoky honey taste with a slightly fruity back, very distinctive flavor but not overpowering
Nice and smooth. Very good flavor. Really enjoyed it!
Really enjoyable finish
Has the smooth whisky flavor I like. As I read the different descriptions in whiskeys I like I think it might be the vanilla.
Nice flavor and good heat. Would consider a bottle.
Very pleasing ,satisfying and relaxing with a wonderful finish !
Not bad. But not amazing by any means imo. Smooth with quite the long burn finish.
Very smooth. Apple is at the forefront for taste and smell (almost sour).
Not as much sweetness or honey as I was expecting, my least favorite of the box
Great, smooth flavor!
Wouldn't order it, but would drink it if it was free.
Balanced well with a crisp finish
Smooth with a hot finish.
Favorite of the 3. Enjoyed the flavor and lingering aroma afterwards.
First taste went down smooth. Had a little heat, which I liked.
Nice and smooth. Finish of fire is accurate
Smooth and easy drink. Spike of fire as it finishes. Nice.
That FUEGO is real.
It's nice enough and may please some who prefer the floral taste, but it's not for me I fear.
Little too much burn to it but smooth going down.
Good beginner drink. Smooth and soft and crisp and fruity.
Very interesting flavor, fruity and strong
Cherry and Vanilla nose.
Strong flavor with thin, light mouth-feel.
Short finish. Wouldn't buy a whole bottle of it though.
Did not care for it . Strong alcohol flavor but did not notice any other flavors
Light and elegant. Not overly peaty.
Light varnish color, autumn gold. Well rounded nose, sweetness and smoke. Taste is malty, sweet, and mineral. Finish is mostly mineral with a touch of sweetness.
Smooth to start, good body in finish, multiple tastes outlines well received. V
Loved this - quite sharp on first sip but mellowed quickly. ""Brilliant" would be the best description :)
Vanilla, honey with hints of smoke. Very nice with a little water.
Smooth and smokey.
Delicious smokey vanilla flavor with hints of fruit on the finish. Coming from tasting the Talisker 10 there night before, the Dalwhinnie is much more enjoyable.
It's light, with some spice to it. Light smokiness. It seems a little "rough" in my opinion
Slow to start but nice sweetness. Nice burn at the end.
The Dalwhinnie 15 year old is the best light and fruity, non-peated Scotch I've tasted thus far. I was quite surprised that I enjoyed it so much (being a fan of the Islays).
Extremely Smooth, one of the best ive tasted
Starts off slow, then really opens up and finishes nicely.
Pretty damn decent. Lighter on the roast I believe and an overall delight.
Great smell great taste my favorite of the three samples
Our least favorite of the three samples. A bit too citrus for our tastes.
Good but just okay....didnt taste too much flavor.
Mild, almost bland flavor profile. Nice kick / burn on after. Mixture of smooth and kick
I like it better than Glenkinchie.
Did not like it.
Smooth and delicious. Wouldn't have bought if it hadn't been for the Welcome Sample box!
The Dalwhinnie was not bad. Decent flavor. I would drink this Scotch again.
I was not impressed with the Glenkinchie.
I did not like the Talisker Port. Had a taste like antiseptic.
Peat finish, but I like it and I usually don't like peaty whisky. Had a dram in Inverness and this would be worth adding to my collection.
Crisp and flavorful
Soft and lingering finish
Very smooth smokey flavor! I really like this 15 Year old!
Very smooth from start to finish. The smokey caramel taste was very nice.
Had high hopes for a 15 yr old. Not a lot of flavor but a lot of bite. Pass me another Highland Park 15 yr old if we are sticking to this age group
Once you get into the 7+ range, it's decanter worthy. This is a strong 7.
Very delicious I'll have to buy me a bottle asap
Very smooth and balanced.
Golden color , fantastic aroma , a little hint of smoky flavor... very smooth
Dalwhinnie was my introduction to Scotch, years ago, and it remains one of my favorites. It's still a great way to introduce someone to the beauty of whisky.
Rich and sweet, smooth and boring.
Very smooth. Caramel, a little smoke and vanilla. I slight hint of Apple.
This was awesome
I enjoyed the heather notes and subtle sweetness. This feels like a well balanced scotch to me and reminds me of Drambuie without the heavy sweetness.
Amazed from first sip!
Smove, my wife and I enjoyed it.
Fruity and smooth
Smooth floral notes with honey.
Grass and apples dipped in caramel
Soft sensation, rich flavour.
A classic dram. I keep a bottle in the freezer for a thick cold dollop of goodness on a hot summer's eve. A solid and consistent single malt.
Light, smooth and well balanced notes for a scotch newbie.
Taste smooth at beginning through end
With water it does not change much
Taste some chocolate with water
Like this one a lot. Smith with just a little bite.
