The Austrian Maverick’s Whisky.
After gaining critical acclaim worldwide for his one of kind wines like Opitz One, a sweet red wine made from air-dried Zweigelt grapes, Willi Opitz has become one of the main players in the mini-boom of small craft Austrian wines that the world has had the pleasure of discovering lately.
There is no story of generations here because Opitz was in a completely different business a good decade ago. He left his corporate lifestyle and established a vineyards and a winery near the town of Illmitz in Burgenland. His estate encompasses 17 hectares that include 12 different varieties of plants and over 30 different wines in production.
But his ingenuity doesn’t stop at wine. One of his passions is to finish different casks of great single malts and bring them to life with exceptional new characteristics. That is why we’re offering you this astonishing new Scotch Whisky. The Homok casks were formerly used for Pinot Blanc grapes and to make sherry-like wine. This Scotch was finished in under a year and only 289 were ever produced. So sip with care.
